aside from a Cervini hood and a Mach1 chin spoiler the body on my car is 100% factory stock....and it does alright at the shows

and I specifically changed the hood for the underside presentation.....I didn't mind the top side of the factory hood at all

I've judged shows too...and personally, the lambo doors don't get points from me.....IMO, the lambo doors on specific lambos were installed for accessability reasons and not for looks

so seeing a modern Stang with it's doors all flipped up seems kinda retarded to me....I mean it's harder now for the driver to get in and out versus the stock swinging door.....and I like to see a car presented that looks like a car, not like some spacecraft from a kid's comic book

but whatever floats your boat.....my car doesn't get the ooohs and ahhhhhs while it's just sitting there with all the panels closed....it just looks like a super clean factory car that's been tweaked because it's sitting low and has blinged out hot rod wheels and big stinking brakes.....it's far from a body-kit queen...and IMO body-kit queens get lambo doors

if you're thinking of doing the doors, put them way down on your priority list....I'd bet I could spend $30k on your car and not even get to the doors yet

hopefully you'll turn the car into something really wicked with the doors swinging in factory mode

I've got a few buddies with show Stangs that are at a level that'll make your tongue wag....and not one of them has lambo doors....and I'd bet large the guy in your area would be walking away empty-handed if they ever showed up at the same event

This is from the LS1truck site I'm on. They're really not worth the hassle... Plus you have everyone (but ricers) laughing at you.

materials 100$
unbelievable amount of hours trying to get it right
new cab 550$

$1100 bucks wasted on something retarded, when i could of put it on something cool, like an awesome underglow system :

..to me, they look like they are a bugger to open / close and what would they be like in a wind ..no interest here..I have my "list" for this year ... You guys have convinced me that a set of cragars are next..

BTW, here is a pic of that car that wins many awards..which shows you what I think of voting by the public...in this show, a stock '07 bullit won best of show..we are still shaking our heads...nick looking set of wheels but certainly not best of show...anyway, nere is the car with the gull doors and this guy has awards up the wazoo..nice gent as well...anyway

if you look closely, you will see "side exhausts" ..actually, those are several pieces if exhause pipe cut up and glued to the side of the car..do I need to say anymore..

I won't judge a car that doesn't have it's hood open....if buddy's lambo-doored-glued-on-exhaust deal had it's hood down I'd walk right by

don't care if the engine bay is bone stock or modded to hell and back, if the owner took the care and time to detail the bay then he/she gets full props from me...if the hood is closed then I assume it's not presentable and I move on

IMO you don't need to have thousands spent under the hood to present the engine bay....the modern stang bays are a nice sight in stock form....and a few inexpensive caps/covers here and there with a good detail is totally cool

and some folks who show their cars wanna keep them bone stock....nothing wrong with that.....

the oddest thing I've seen was when a few of us Stangs attended a show put on by an exhaust shop....and there was this guy with a Sunfire (I think...mighta been a Cavalier)....he was apparently the guy to beat, he had all his friends there talkin up his "show car"......I wish I had a pic because the guys idea of presenting the engine bay included putting a huge stuffed animal on top of the engine.....you couldn't even see the motor:laughhard now that dude should kept his hood shut:biggrin:
