Need help building a box
I have a sony xplod 10 inch sub that i need a box for. i have already made a box with specs from the internet and they were wrong- the box is too small. If anyone can give me any dimensions for an MDF box that would be great.

well, I cant find any ported box specs online for that sub, but i did find on bestbuy.com they sell that sub and it says it calls for a .93cu.ft. box (sealed). . . so you should probably build a 1.0cu.ft. box because the sub itself takes up some displacement. . .
so a 12"W x 12"H x 12"L (inside measurments) would work or you could do a box 18"wide x 12"high x 8"deep (inside)
so for the 12x12x12 box USING 3/4" MDF here are the cuts
Face/Rear (2 identical boards): 13.5" x 13.5"
Top/Bottom (2) 13.5" x 12"
Sides (2) 12" x 12"
make sure as your building it you use some good silicone (hard stuff) or wood glue (dont be shy) and i always use lots of drywall screws, usually good idea to pre-drill pilot holes first so the mdf doesnt split.
if you would like to do the 18" wide box i can figure out the cuts tomorrow after work, im tired and gotta go to bed.

Wow! Thanks so much! The previous box i built was about 0.96 cu ft but when i tested it so much air was coming out of the port and all the sub did was vibrate, i guess it's because i didnt factor in the sub's displacement.
i put the box together with carpenter's glue and brad nails, and i did pre-drill holes first.
is it alright to put a port in this one, or can i keep it sealed?

.96 should have been fine. . . for a sealed box though. . . that is too small for a ported box. . .
the box specs i just gave you is for a sealed box, dont put a port in it and make sure you dont cut the hole too big for the sub or you wont get a good seal. . . you can just take the port out of the current box that you have and screw a piece of wood over the hole along with silicone, and that should make it a lot better. . . or just build a new box. . .
i cant find Ported box specs for this sub. I would say probably 1.5 - 1.7cu.ft. with like a 4" round port maybe 6" long. . . but im just guestimating. . . id go with the sealed box just to be safe
