Light Treatment

I saw a car last summer (it was parked in a parking lot w/o the ownerr being around) athat had some sort of plastic ..reflective coating over the light lens so the lights were the same colour of the car (and I am not talking about the bulb).

Anybody know about this stuff ?

I really don't like the orange signal lights..a shop arounf here has suggested this kind of paint that with two coats, they would be black but the light would still come through..again, anyone know about this stuff ?

tinted tail lights are sweet on a stang imo.. the only thing is what is the legal issues on them in your area. I have a mild tint that I'm putting on in the spring for my stang. i hear using nightshade isn't too hard if you take your time. As for other colors. have a look on ebay? if it'll be anywhere it'll be there :tup

other thing to do is get smoked housings..

I think what you are referring to is "candying" (sp?) Testors has a line of transparent paints.

Here is a link of how it is done

Reaper,

Yes, that looks like the product..instead of putting it over the lens, he put it behind. I am not sure how he was able to do this but just putting the tint over would be cool.

20gt00,

The painting is cool. What I don't understand is how the light gets through 3 or 4 coats of paint. I have seen on e-bay conplete blinker plastic like have linked.

I looked up the info for tghe NS safety inspections...

For the headlights:

" A few vehicle manufacturers are presently equipping some of their
vehicles with low beam headlamps of the Gaseous Discharge Light
Sources Design (GDLS). These headlamps emit a light with a
bluish hue which is in compliance with current Federal and
Provincial requirements. Tinted headlamp bulbs, blue, yellow and
rainbow versions available from some automotive parts stores
are not certified for use on public roads."

I am thinking that the really bright blue bulbs are legal.

For the ugly amber turnlights..

"front amber or white, rear amber or red)"

So, if you we going to paint, you have to leave a bit of amber showing..

Drats.

If anyone is interested in dloading the safety inpection doc, here is the link..

Service Nova Scotia - Registry of Motor Vehicles - Vehicles (Safety) Inspections

On the bright side, the NS gov is talking about doing away with this yearly inspection and doing the same thing as Ontario..if that is the case then a bit more varience could be achieved..

I am thinking painting mt blinkers my body colour with just a small strip of orange..

What about those chromed bulbs. They are on ebay and mrbodykit.com and other sites. When off they look silver chrome and when they are powered they go amber. Is this the look you are trying to get??

Too cool. If I could find a set of clear front blinker plastics, this would be perfect.

Do they exist ?
