Mothers Products

Just bought:
Mothers California Clay Bar pack
Leather Cleaner
Leather Conditioner
Preserves Protectant

Any one use these before, good products or typical off the shelf stuff. I have never clayed a car before so should be interesting to say the least.

Their clay bar works fairly well. I've used it on a few of my vehicles over the years. Their leather cleaner and conditioner smell pretty good too :tup

The clay is good. I can’t comment on their leather stuff but make sure it does not add any "Artificial Gloss". Any time a leather cleaner or conditioner makes leather look shinier than it actually is, it uses harmful dressings that dry out and eventually crack leather. The best performing products usually smell like crap.

Thanks guys, Las tyear I used Armour all leather and foung out it left a milky substance on the seats. That is why I decided to try the Mothers line. Heard some good things about claying since my car is under snow now. Once spring gets here I will clay and wax the sucker up real good.

And don't be using the leather cleaner/conditioner stuff on the seats just before you plan to go for a drive or the track - you don't seem to stay in your seat as well. :)

:laughhard some of those products get you slipping all over, you need a 5 point harness to hold you in. :) thanks for the tip.

Mothers has a great leather conditioner which is probably what you have. It smells good but it's a bit slippery at first but it wears off quickly :tup

I always found Mother's products to be about the best off-the-shelf products around.

when I used their stuff, I'd have a bottle of their step #1 cleaner around...a bottle of their step #3 carnuba, and a good supply of showtime QD.

after the car was washed/dried.

1) a once over with the showtime
2) used the cleaner #1 on any areas that needed some help...like a sap mark...the odd water spot...etc....a simple wipe on/off
3) step #3 carnuba...set up pretty quick...easy to buff off
4) a once over with the showtime again

I tried their step #2 sealant once, and found it to be a PITA to get off.

The Showtime gets good ratings on www.autopia.org and their pretty knowledgable.

The car always looked awesome with the Mother's combo. I would just recommend frequent applications of the #3 carnuba. It's probably got a lifespan of about a month.
