Orange peel?
now my car is brand freakin new, and it has orange peel! piss me off, is there any way to dim it's noticability or am i stuck with it untill the lease is up? :2:

Sand and polish it. But.... If you had to ask the question I don't recommend you try it on your own!
|
Take it back to the dealer and let them detail/handle it........Shouldn't be your problem to correct.....
|
I thought only the big three sent out inferior products :2: Guess not :3:

im proud of you (tear rolls down my cheek) |
We have a friend that over the last 3 years has bought two cars from Lexus. They both have orange peel straight from the factory. We told them to ask the dealer about it and they claim it's normal.
Most of the new cars I've seen these days have orange peel. Perhaps it's become acceptable? These are top of the line SUV's and car's from Lexus I'm referring to. |
lx 470, ya its because the painting is done more so by robots now and in a hurry, so there isnt time to wetsand and such im assuming.
|
Aren't you trying to save money...? :teeth:
|
yup and i have saved a bunch, this is just extra stuff from the halifax trip. :5:

VIRGIN!!!!! :cop:

When it comes to your orange peel on your car best way to get rid of that is a light wetsand and 3 stage polish. I work in a body shop that's how we usually fix that problem. Don't try this unless you know what you are doing, and if you take it back to your dealership make sure that if they take it to the detailor that he knows what he is doing because dealerships usually give those problems to their detailors because it's cheaper to polish it the bodyshop time.

Bubba: We all are going through the gas and insurance thing, but why didn't you go for a older mustang like a fox or a jelly bean like mine instead of a honda, im not making fun of anyone just wondering why you didnt go older? |
because, gas payments and the fact that it was a lemon, not to say that all are but alot of mustangs have been touched.....and i want a complete virgin stock stang. im gonna wait for a while until i get another one, when i can afford the fixings and such.

Even if your not expecting the dealer to do anything about the quality of the paint, you should atleast show them so they can note it. The last thing you want, is in 3 years or whatever and your lease is up for them to try and tell you that you had a the car repainted. They might thing that the orange peel is the result of a touch up or body repair.
