Radio replacement questions

Folks,

On a 1997 Mustang GT with Mach 460 sound system .. cassette deck ( YES CASSETTE DECK) and CD player .... I would like to replace this with a JVC headunit (CD player . radio etc).

What would I need to fix up the holes etc ? I found some of the wiring I would need a scoche etc .. but nothing for a faceplate replacement ,, any ideas ? pictures ?

what about the amp that's in the car ? is it part of the radio now ? or is it seperate ?

thanks
Ralph

I would go with the JVC headunit (funny cause I have one too) and fill the second hole with guages - this is what I did and it looks awesome (take a look). The amplifier is a different unit than your stereo.

This is what I have now .. wondering if there is a bezel kit so that I can put my head unit on top .. and replace the original CD with like a tray or something ..

You can move your head unit on top .. just remove the tape deck and slide the head unit into place. A number of companies make Ford to JVC conversion wiring so you can just plug and play - using your existing Ford amplifier if you want. You can get wiring adaptors like the one I mentioned at any car audio shop - I think they even sell them at Future Shop if you ask the Car Audio Department. In terms of a tray - Tape Deck and tray is standard equipment on SN95 V6 Models. You can pick up the tray you need from any wreckers. If you want new check out Late Model Restoration Supply. Here you go ... 94-00 Mustang Utility Compartment by Ford at LRS - Same Day Shipping!. It sells for 44 bucks U.S.

thanks

Well, I don't know what "no need to a scosche like dask kit thingee face plate" is .. but essentially yes.

They make special mounting kits that come 2Din for a setup like that. Therefor one spot treats as storage and one fits your deck.
