Single or 2 Stage Paint?
Single or 2 Stage Paint?
I have been shopping around a bit, looking to get the car resprayed. I have it basicaly narrowed down to 2 shops and both are within a couple of hundred $ of each other. The one shop offers a Single stage Polyurethene with sealer while the other shop is offering the 2 stage, Base Coat/Clear Coat Urethane. What I would like to know from a party that dosent stand to make any money off of this, which is the better way to go? As I understand it, the Single stage wiil give me a easy care finish with superior resistance to the suns UV rays and enviornmental conditions. But I have also been told that if I were to say scratch a bumper you would have to repaint the whole bumper, not just a spot repair like with 2 step process. What I would like to know is what will ultimately give me better results, a better final product.
My understanding is if you are painting the whole car, go base clear, single stage is usually if you only need to match part of the car where the other parts are worn or if you are saving money. I know there was a new paint only in black where the paint and clear was all-in-one but I think for it to be really quality, it's probobly pretty expensive.
To put it simply, if all-in-one was the way to go, we'd all be washing our hair with Pert plus.

Ya eh, thats kinda where I was going to but the guy's really made a good case for the single stage and MAN did it look deep and rich. But I still wasn't sure about it. But now I am. Thanks guys
