Stripping/Refinishing and waxing with a Budget....

Holy cow.. after a lot of thought and some partial planning I'm looking @ 150 bucks just for materials @ Canadian tire to strip contaminents, claybar,
clean, polish then wax the car...
Why is it always that the 3 step process from Mequires always ends up damn expensive when you need to add a clay bar and a better final coat of wax than their 3rd step one?

Any substitutes you can think off to bring down the cost?

I haven't even thought of buying a shammy or sponges or buffing cloths yet either... LOL

Oie... there has to be just as good of quality without spending the cash... mutter... and not paying a detailing place to do it... I never trust them to do it right :).

Well thanks to a good birthday - I ended up paying 36 dollars for 150 worth of car care products! :)

10 Hrs of washing, clay barring, wax cleaning, polishing, and waxing hurts!!!!

That gold class meguires is nice, but even in the shade looks streaky - it'll probably even out in the next few days anyways.

Well I have better used something nicer after. Much wash and wax after that. But I have spent roughly $500 in detailing supply and equipment. That is Polish, wax, that 3 step stuff, microfibers, buckets, mitts, professional high class grade concours wax, interior everything. And got more invested and into the massive scope of detailing. Granted I bought virtually everything I use at the dealership only far better products with no budget in mind. But Knowing what they do and how to intimately use them like you said, you will be at 150 or more
