Sync, Updates, Troubleshooting

With all new Mustangs coming out with Sync hands-free communication and voice command, I think it will be a good idea if we had a Thread dedicated to this subject as it is a fairly complicated system and it has a lot of potential.

So, with the approval of Mods, please post all your Sync related feedbacks, questions, concerns or tips here.
So , here is my question:
Has anyone run an update on their system yet? How easy or difficult was the process?

Haven't had an update yet,is it possible that it would update automatically? Didn't see anything in the manual regarding updates. I currently use it for hands free with my cell and ipod.Love it!

No, updates are done on line through syncmyride.com You have to register your sync system first, then you download system check on your computer onto a USB ,then take the USB to your car and install the content. After that, you bring back the usb and upload to syncmyride.com to report back of the software version and APPS , only then they will check to see if there are any updates available for your sync. Also, I think the newer versions 2011 and 2012 systems are upgradeable for adding new feathers in future.

Mine works flawlessly too, so I'm little hesitant to mess with it for now. But I already registered my Sync so they can notify me of any updates.

That sounds like something the dealer should be doing for you on brand new vehicles when you're in for regular service. I'm not saying you can't do it yourself, but you would think if you had a brand new car, they would do it for you as part of the service. What about those people who aren't that good with computers, but still have the system?

Don't know what your dealership is like, the only thing I get for nothing is misery and aggravation.
