5.0 swap

Hello all, new to the site. One quick question that could lead to more down the road. I have a 79 mustang fox body, and would like to put a 5.0 roller, EFI from a newer mustang. What year would be good from 1987 to 1993.

thanks and happy motoring

Wow I almost forgot fox bodies went that far back. The only real huge difference that i would be concerned about in the 87 - 93 fuelies is the electronics any other differences are fairly minor. If you plan on doing any major engine mods later I would look for something from 88 or newer since they came with mass air system as opposed to speed density. Mass air is much more upgrade friendly in most cases.

89 - 92 would be the best donour. 89 was the first year for mass air on the non-California spec cars, and the 93 was when they got the cheaper hypereutectic pistons.

cheers
