Electrical gremlins, need help
Electrical gremlins, need help
Hey guys, I am hoping one of you have heard of this happening;
2009 GT 5 speed, bone stock, low kms.
Car would not restart today, has always run perfectly 'til now.
Acts like a dead battery, but there are also some weird quirks going on.
Park lights flashing at random, cd player cycling over and over, horn like device in right rear fenderwell making strange sounds, rhythmic clicking/clunking sound coming from vicinity of under hood fuse box and back of right headlamp. All this with the ignition in off position. Disconnected positive cables from battery, waited, then reconnected, same problems. Can boost the battery, starts fine, and everything works normally again as long as I keep it running. The self diagnostics indicate that all systems are normal. Only other clues are the message center is displaying random trouble messages, brakes, security system, tire pressure monitoring system. The car did this today for the first time, I was parked a half block from the local Ford dealer so walked down to talk to a service rep. Got rudely told they are too busy, make an appointment. So I went and found someone to give me a boost. Really do not want to take the car to the dealer, any ideas?

Battery and alternator would be a logical place to start, sounds like either one or both are not doing their job. Sounds like the dealer service rep might not be doing his job either, he could have at least been nice about it. Sure, you can understand the service department being too busy to get someone to give you a boost, but no point in being a dick about it.
That's a possibility as well. There was a tsb for water leaks from various places on the cowl and firewall. I would think that it would act up when the car is running as well.
