Lit Door sill plates in 2016 GT

Lit Door sill plates in 2016 GT
When I open the driver's door on my 2016 GT, the door sill plate lights up. The one on the passenger's side does not, and is obviously not made to light up. Is this the way of all the 2016 GT convertibles? Only one plate lights up?

That seems odd. My 10gt they both light up.
