i have an 03 gt Automatic , i recently worked a deal for a 98 cobra parts car .
question is can i swap the 5spd out of the cobra into my 03 auto. i have an 8 bolt flywheel on the 03 , and basically everything i need for the swap including the harness section i need ,

No techs around these days??? LOL
After alot of researching , this is possible but there is some things to change.
'99 and later models have an externally balanced flywheel and mine being an '03 has a neutral balanced flywheel.Their also are differences in the speed sensor plug and some ecu tuning to do also......if the ecu isnt tuned for manual shifting you will get a hesitation when the computer senses a shift change for the Automatic trans.
Also have to leave the plug from trans. in park position or car will not start.
Reverse lights are simple and will also have some metal work on the trans. tunnel too.....

As for the tune, it will be worth it as you will also be able to get a few more HP out of the tune as well.

Driving with a manual transmission requires thought, such as knowing when to upshift, planning those downshifts, and developing a finese for using the clutch instead of giving your passengers whiplash. Going Manual

Changing from an automatic transmission to a manual transmission is intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be difficult. Automatic transmissions use a flexplate instead of a flywheel. The flexplate bolts to the crankshaft, as does the flywheel, and it sports a ring gear for the starter, as does the flywheel. You’re going to need a flywheel and clutch in order to get the power from the crank to the manual transmission. There’s also the need for a manual transmission bellhousing, which is different from what we find with the C4, C6, or FMX automatics. Often we’re also dealing with a different starter, which has to mate with the flywheel.
