Haynes manual is a good inexpensive manual. You can get them from Canadian Tire. I don't know of any specific manuals for the 3.8, but Tom Morana would know if there was Tom Morana Racing Engines He is also a good source of information. Are you staying with a stock rebuild or are you looking for more power? 4.2 is a good upgrade and split port heads.

im keeping the 3.8.....dunno why but i love it....and me and my buddy are having a challenge with eachother.....see who can go faster....he is doing up his neon....me my mustang...and we have to stay with the original engine...so....ya....

and i am throwing on the split port upgrade to....just want to get everything first before i start....so any help would be awesome

The 4.2 is the same as the 3.8, but has a longer stroke crank and pistons to match. There is actually a good aftermarket for the 3.8 - cams, roller rockers, forged pistons, ported heads/ intake, headers, etc. The stock headers on the 94 mustang are actually as good as any shorties made, so keep them, so unless you are going to get longtube headers.

As Crafty said, check out 3.8mustang.com - Read the stickies, etc and try to do searches, as some of the members get testy when you ask something that has been answered several times before.

haha ya i know i know....but i want to keep the 3.8...like i said i dunno i just like the engine...and im familiar with it so that helps.....and ya i have checked out 3.8mustang.com before...its a sweet site...lots of useful stuff.....

another reason i am using this engine is because i am picking up another one i think so if i break anything or mess something up...i always have a spare....and this is going to be a learning tool for me :)

thanks for the help guys...i will keep you updated and i do want to know what you think as i go through the stuff with my car

You better hope he doesn't do a SRT swap, if so your FACKED! lol

freemannn 09-05-2009 06:46 PM

hes not....i already know the engine he is putting in i helped him do it....its just a 2.0 or something like that....i think....and he hates the srt4 engine..he already blew 3 of them.....haha and i dont think i would be fucked...im sure i could get enough power out of my girl to keep up with him if not beat him....just do all forged internals...new gears...t-lok and twin turbo hahahaha

Stang Illusions 5.0L 09-05-2009 06:51 PM

If he blew 3 SRT engines he is doing something wrong cause those can create power and a lot of it...
There is a guy on here that built one, complete stock engine other then upper intake, injectors, and a larger turbo....the car put down over 400 FWHP.. and over 400 FWTQ!

Just be careful what you play with out there LMAO...
