Crankshaft Sleeve? Rear main leak

The rear main leaks bad due to a groove where the seal rides on the crank. This is on my new stroked 4.2. I have replaced the seal once, but it is still a gusher. Purchased a redi-sleeve to go over the groove, but install instuctions show the flange of the sleeve towards the crank (engine center). This could cause interferace with the seal and or the block, as the flange could bottom out in the seal install area, and there should be room for oil between the seal and flange, plus room for oil to get past the flange.

Hopefully this makes sense. Ford has a TSB for a fix of the GT which had a rear main leak requiring a sleeve install on the crank. FORD instructs tech to ignore sleeve manufacture instructions and to install sleeve with flange away from engine and to remove the flange ( there is a score mark for this). Seal is installed over the sleeve.

I Tried to remove the sleeve on a ruined sleeve ( don't ask) and it was not pretty. I did cut down to the score with cutters as per the insructions, but i am reluctant to do this with a new sleeve installed. There is not much info on the net about this particular install. My thought is to use a depth gauge/ micrometer to carefully measure mounting depths for the sleeve and seal, but there would be no room for error at install.

Any thoughts?
