Overdrive problem
 

Been having this problem since ive taken it out from winter.. I have a 94 3.8L.. and my overdrive and tranny is massive problems to me. First it wouldn't go into 3rd gear or overdrive so i went and got a new tranny, cost me $800. Well that didnt fix teh problem completely. 3rd gear and overdrive would work at like random times, when ever it wanted bascially.

So i went back, and they said oh, it might be the speed sensor, so they changed that.. Same thing.. worked for a while then back to same problem. It almost worked for a full week before it went down again, and now the O/D off Light is flashing and ofcouse its not going into 3rd, Rectangle Auto (the ones who cahnged my tranny) keep telling me its an electrical problem, and the electrical shop says its tranny.

SO Since im massively fed up with this , im gona take it tommrow to the Ford dealership and take it to the service shop there, and get like a full diagnostics or whatever (btw does anyone know how much taht cost?) anyways so ye hopefully they can fix the problem, i think its Fastlane, fords service shop..

anyways so ye, anyone seen this problem before?

Kinda sick of just riding the car on the streets and no highway... 3000 rpm if i do go on highway. so dat isnt happeN'

they will probally just charge you their shop rates($85.00/hour??) i think, plus maybe a scan charge.

Nice, finally got car back today, and it works like a charm. Gave it in to Ford dealership in St. Catherines , and ye all it was... The main harness cable or something was cut up, so they fixed ( not replaced) that and ye, took 3 days, and charged me $540 ......

im pretty glad it wasnt the transmission atleaset... but ye.. such a simpole problem... all this money wasted on replaceing the tranny and all that other crap... should of went to ford first....

^The shop that originally "fixed" it should give you a refund, at least on the labour since they probably had to pay for the trans, still it's a misdiagnosis on their part-it's their fault really. Repairing a wiring harness is a pretty big job, the labour you paid sounds about right, if you had to change the whole harness it would have been much, much more than that, at least they fixed it right-that's why the cost more. :thumb1:

i hope at least when they installed the newer tranny, you took your old one?
when i swapped out the one in my cav, i made sure i took all the parts... no use them making money off of me after they raped me and "gave me an awesome deal"

i'd try and go after them for labour that wasn't needed (the tranny installation) it might pay for a little of the dealer job, every little bit helps
