question for 3.7L vs 5.0L

Hey everyone......

I purchased a 2013 3.7L last june and picked up some 17" rims with winter tires on them.

My question is, if i trade in the 3.7L for a 5.0L, will those 17"s still fit on the 5.0L? as long as I don't have the brembo brake package?

Thanks for any insight.

Reason i am thinking of doing a trade, is for the exhaust sound and a little bit faster car, But mostly for that V8 sound.

I been down this road and for the most part the answer is no your 17's won't clear the caliper on the base GT 18". Fast Ed knows of a rim that will but your steels probably won't.

OK, thank you for the reply. Hopefully FastEd will post a link to the rims.

Well I did it.....

I went from a 2013 v6 auto with comfort package to a 2013 GT comfort package w/nav and a 6 speed manual transmission. I get to pick it up this coming up friday. They gave me a good trade in my eyes anyways. I payed just over $30K in June 2012 and they gave me $25 trade in and the GT was going for $45K and I am getting it for $37,500 OTD. Picture on right is the v6 and 1 on left is what I am picking up on friday.

I'm excited to go get it friday... like a kid waiting for christmas to come lol. Man I can't wait till I get to hear that V8 sound. My sales guy told me to drive it normal and punch it a bit but nothing crazy, then change the oil at 800-1000km and should be good to go. Don't have to worry about break in like i did for thev6 (1500km different rmp's through those km's). He worked in a automobile plant for 12 years in ontario before becoming sales at the dealership. That's what they did with new vehicles always. Changing it gets rid of crap and shavings as the factories aren't clean at all. 50/50 on what I am going to do right now. But have 6 sleeps to decide before picking it up.

Going to drive it for the summer, then in the fall I am going to through on some gt500 axle back exhaust to get a little bit louder and deeper and will be happy till the warranty is done.

Didn't see the older posts in this thread before, sorry. Congrats on the new purchase. There are a few aftermarket 17" alloy wheels that will just clear the 11-up GT brakes, but if your current winter wheels are steel, they are not going to clear as Chad mentioned.

Depending on the condition of the winter tires, it might make more sense to sell them as a complete package, and then put together an 18" winter setup for the new car.

cheers
Ed

No worries Ed,
I took some pictures of the 17's and am going to put them on kijijji and sell them. Already went and got a few quotes on 18's rim/tire so i know for this fall.

Thanks Digger56,

I can't wait for friday to come. There was nothing wrong with the v6, But for me to get the power and more sound (still wouldn't sound like the v8), i would have spend $8000+ on it.so just figured go with the GT and have the sound I was looking to get with an axle back exhaust and be happy. Don't have to switch gearing as it comes with the 3.73 gears so all is good now when friday comes lol.
I am going to miss the range in km's that the v6 could do on the highway, but maybe with a light foot i will get decent milage (YA RIGHT IT'S A 5.0) lol

I honestly don't think you'll ever regret the decision. 'Grats on the new GT.

Thanks Apocalypse.......

I don't think i will either lol. I so can't wait to get into it and listen to the sound. I get to listen for 6 hour ride home in it hehehehe. Going to make being at school hard this week waiting.
