split port install or buy a 3.8 99+ engine?

i cant do any of the work myself thats for sure so ive been researching on split port intake swapping and it runs around $800 so should i jus buy a used 99+ engine? right now im looking for a super coupe to take the s/c off but ive heard you get a much better gain on a split port so what should i do?

Put a supercoupe motor in it with the charger, they can be done up to be quick, and you'd only have to meet 1980 etest standards because your car never came with that motor option....plus it would be something a little different

hmmm now i dont know what to do lol out of the 3. 1. switch engine with 99+ mustang and put s/c from super coupe on it. 2. split port swap with a 99+mustang and put s/c from super coupe on it. or 3.switch with super coupe motor. but which will give me best hp and a super coupe motor is only single port. and then i have to find one with out much wear and tear

trust me man, there are people making crazy power with the supercoupe motors for not a lot of dough, and living in ontario wouldn't it be nice to be the next best thing to smog exempt?

i don't know about that smog test theory. it will probably be more work then its worth. i did the 99+ splitport swap, its much easier, and i'm very happy with it. go buy a 99+ motor from a junk yard with low ks they usually run about $800 bucks... expect with someone doing the re and re for it to run you about $2000.

Trust me you wont find a low km sc motor in a junkyard with a blower... there is alot more that can go wrong with a supercharged motor that is....at best 10 years old?

plus insurance.. u wil have to tell them u put a supercharged motor in... if you put a splitport.. what do you know..?? your old motor was messed so u had a mechanic put a new one it? you had no clue you would gain 40hp... catch my drift.... plus u'll pass e tests no issue and be able to sell the car and maybe even get some of your money back after.....

just my opinion.... from experience.

An engine R+R would be closer to $1000 as it's a fairly easy swap. I'd sell it and buy a V8 personally. As for the e-test "hot rod" qualification, you would not be under the "hot rod" category as your car comes with a 3.8, makes no difference if it's blown.

Split port swap, thats what im going to be doing. All motor is always more reliable then blown

my95sn95 01-12-2007 11:08 AM

Go V6 or go home
i did the split port swap it was very easy but since itds anot a 100% swap ovre there are a few minor thigs that are needed to change fromt he single to split port it would cost a bit more to do at a shop

SC swpa is nice and the emission thing doesnt cut it since its a 3.8 based andgine and his v6 mustan came witha 3.8 that does not mean they base it upon a 80 standard
split port is more common and easioer to get parts for the n the SC anyways

splitport all the way
