Throttle Body Spacer

I'll bet there are lots of eyes rolling now seeing that title.

Ok.. so give me the benefit of your experience. If you have ever installed a helix spacer did it work or is it junk??

Don't hold back.

Well since no one responded to this I'll just sit here and talk to myself.

Previously I purchased a throttle body spacer from eBay. It was one of those clone make-pretend things. Didn't work. Whistled. It did have some grooves in it but basically useless. So, since no one had any advice for me I researched what was out there and what specs they had. Airraid is pricey... $100+ but has lots of dyno data to back it up. So to make a long story short I discovered Steeda also made a helix spacer and it was a lot cheaper and also had dyno data to back it up. Soooo... I bought one.

Here's my own unprofessionl findings.
HP gains.. no idea. The claimed 5 to 6 HP gain would be so low I really can't feel it. All I can confess to is a guy who tried to blast past me like an ass when we came off the ramp onto the 401 and I just planted my 12's on the floor (he pissed me off) and his Impala couldn't even begin to keep up. I just pulled away... no competition at all.
MPG increase.. you bet. My little V6 usually gives me around 32 mpg. (31.8 to 32.2) Now after a few tanks I get over 33. (33.1 to 33.4) small gain but anything makes me happy.

Oh... and no whistle at all...!!

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it...

Hmmm ... Thanks for the info. Pretty interesting actually.

OK..

If you have a 99 or newer 3.8/3.9 just buy VAP Auto's Windstar Upper Intake kit. It's money well spent. Period!

I am curious about the no whistle thing, please expand if you don't mind
