Does anybody else have the issue below? I have a 2011 V6 Premium Vert.

When I am rolling slow or starting out once in a while (getting more frequent) there seems to be a hesitation from when I push the gas pedal and when the engine responds. It is quite annoying and sometimes when the engine kicks in it gives the car a jolt.

I didn't expect this from the Mustang, is this normal with the V6? I never had this issue or anything like it with my Grand Prix (which I owned for 7 years).

If this is not normal (I really hope it is not or I will be a short term Mustang owner), what would cause this? I just bought the car from a dealer in January and have the extended warranty but there should not be any issues so soon after buying the car.

 

Sounds like a drive by wire issue. I'd take it in. If its getting worse something isn't right.

 

I have add this issue before in my V6. To cure the problem I changed out the fuel filter when the oil and filter were changed out. I also used a bottle of Chevron Techron in the gas tank and use only Chevron or Esso gas. Do not used Shell as it as to much sulfur in the mix and can bring on hesitation. Do not use independent gas stations as you never know where they get there products from. Fuel filters should be changed twice a year once in the spring and once in the fall.

 

Twice per year fuel filter changes is excessive. Under scheduled maintenance it's usually a 50,000km interval. The 2011 up Mustangs don't actually have a serviceable fuel filter, it is built into the fuel pump/sending unit.

 

X2, could be as simple as a PCM reprogram.

 

I just know what works for the 2005 - 2009 Mustangs. Basically from November 01 to March 30 the 05 is parked in the garage. Techron in the gas tank prior to the winter park eliminates water buildup in the fuel system. The fuel filter change is simply and extra preventative maintenance step. I guess if I drove the Mustang continually, a once a year change would be o.k. ** Note to self - check out the poster's vehicle year.

 

He might not have the ride, but he's got the smarts. Working at a dealership doesn't hurt either.

 

You can't go wrong with extra maintenance if you don't mind the cost, that's for sure. That being said a fuel filter is very unlikely to clog when the vehicle is sitting. I always use stabil when I park my vehicle for the winter.

 

Again, a different animal than the 3.7, but the throttle response on my '07 V6 was horrible right from the start. The throttle lag drove me nuts. A tune cleared it right up...If I didn't know better, I'd think there was a physical link between the gas pedal and the throttle body. I'm not a fan of drive-by-wire.

The concerning part about yours is that it seems to be getting worse. If it was like that from day one, I would recommend picking up a tuner and some tunes...it made a world of difference with my car.

 

Thanks All. Could be my frustration or head that it is getting worse, I have focused on it the last few days and it does seem to be consistent around 2 seconds like one of the other posters stated (definitely not .5 seconds)

I will look at the tuners and see what can be done. Is that something the dealership does also? (I would assume so)
