Woohoo, now she'll breathe MUCH better! (sounds pretty darned good too)
Mach1 exhaust, doesn't sound like my Mach but darned, sounds better than the straw for the single exhaust I had before!

Right on, what did you replace with on Mach or did you buy one used?

V6Sprout 02-13-2005 09:19 PM

about time you put duals on that V6, that shoudl always be the very first thing you do, and almost immediately :) I have Mach 1 mufflers and wonder how thye will sound on my V6, right now I have the 2 chamber flows on her, but I have the Mach mufflers sitting here to be installed.

I got them right after someone else upgraded their Mach exhaust.
The exhaust on my Mach is not on the top 10 or so things to do, so it stays.

In regards to being the 1st thing I should do err, only took me six months to change the exhaust. (bought the car this past August, had 34k kms, I could not pass it up)
1st thing I did when I bought the v6 last summer was clay bar, and give a good wax.
2nd was the K&N.
So 3rd was the exhaust.
Not too far off!!??

I am happy. I enjoy driving this car & now at least it does not sound congested.

V6Sprout 02-14-2005 11:01 AM

oh yeah forgot K&N is usually the firt, yeah 6 months isn't bad at all, it took me a few years to do mine :) I did a lot of other stuff first, I can't believe I didn't do my exhaust first, but when I did I was much happier. :tup

Ray, looks good! All we need now is a sound clip!

MUSTANG GUY 02-18-2005 12:33 AM

Looks good!
reminds me of my old 99 v6, Did the same setup and added flowamsters later on. It sounded much better with the flows, Theres a guy on gtamc selling flowmasters right now, if you get get them cheap pick them up and put them on next year, its not much work to get them on but the car will sound really really good with them.

Mach1 EH 02-18-2005 05:23 AM

Ya the flowmasters thread, I PM'd. It was replied saying many ppl have put in offers for higher than he was asking, so I dropped it.
No bidding war on the house I just bought, no way I am going to do that for a couple of mufflers.
The factory Mach1 exhaust are, for lack of a better expression, breaking in. They are sounding better and louder every day! :tup

Looking for Dual Options

I'm looking to upgrade my V6 to duals, what kinda suggestions do you have? Looking at a lot of different options, but the best I've heard and come up with are Flowmaster Force II 40's V6 conversion.. Not true dual, but do you really need it on a 3.8L V-6? What about going with GT take-offs? Suggestions on where to find those if I go that route?

Also, I want to confirm, 2002 V6 definitely has 7.5" gears not 8.8"?

Thanks!

White97 03-19-2005 01:07 PM

As far as I know, all V6s come with a 7.5" rear end. For why does a V6 need true dual? If you're supercharging or turboing is one reason. There's a lot of kits you can get, a Pacesetter adapter (or something welded up that's similar) can let you use a GT cat-back exhaust.

I got a set of 3.73's that might work for ya! PM if yer interested...

Well, thanks for all your reply's, as it turns out, I just sold my V6 and picked up a hot little Screaming Yellow 04 GT. :) No more exhaust problems at least until I need some more power..

Is there a HP increase with a dual exhaust?? I know you get more with headers over manifolds

I noticed a nice increase when I went to duals on my car. The stock manifolds are actually pretty good until you get into heavy mods (they actually look like shorty headers already). It also sounds much nicer with duals :)

lex 03-30-2005 12:00 PM

Hmmm maybe when I get a few extra dollars I will have to get a dual job done myself.

Picked up new car today

Well guys, just picked up the new car today and i'll tell yah, even though they are both named mustangs, they are 100% night and day when it comes to driving. What a difference that little emblem GT makes in a car. It is truely a work of art to open up the hood and look at the 4.6, I really believe this is the best move I could make at this point. Now comes the real fun of ripping it all apart. :)

I'm asking $200, it's off my '02GT, the cat-back has 30000kms on it, it's in great shape and was NOT cut to remove it. I'm in Oshawa. PM me if you want to come check it out.

White97 05-17-2005 12:22 PM

Looks good :tup
Did you install it yourself or get it done at a shop? What did it cost? If you did it yourself, what did you need to buy for the second side of the exhaust?

3.h8 05-17-2005 04:34 PM

i sent you a message

MUSTANGWOP 05-18-2005 08:21 AM

I have a stock cat-back off my 02GT if someone is interested. It has 35000kms on it and is NOT cut, it was taken off in one piece. Looking for $200 for it or make an offer. I'm in Oshawa.

Shawn
