Best winter option
 

Hello guys,

this is my first posting here! This is gonna be my first winter in Canada and I recently bought a 2011 v6 Stang. I'm wondering what are the best options that I have. Right now I'm running the 18" that came with my car, but I'm not sure which other tire dimensions I could go to. Price matters right now, so I might be lowering down to 17" if I can.

Welcome to cmoc! A good set of winter tires will work. I'm pretty sure 17's will fit as well if you want to get steely rims. Or for the same cost you can buy a winter beeter and park the stang! Post up some pics of your stang!

Welcome, congrats, downsize to 17 inch steelies as def said, and a set of four Blizzaks FTMFW. You'll recover the money spent in no time.

The other option is stay with the factory all seasons , pile the trunk full of kitty litter for weight, (less smell than the ex-wife in the trunk option), and take it easy on the gas. Less cost, but not as good as dedicated winter tires.

^+1 Blizzaks are one of the best (if not the best) winter tires on the market. They're certainly not the least expensive. If budget will not allow them, the Firestone Winterforce is a reasonably good winter tire at a better price point. You would be giving up a fair bit of snow/ice traction vs. the Blizzaks though.

I'm not sure if you guys are allowed to run studded tires but you really can't beat studs on ice.

No studs in tires here in Ontario, but in Saskatchewan gravydog316 has other uses for them. :D
