Pirelli P Zero tires
 

My 2012 GT came with these Pirelli tires and so far I'm not impressed with them. I've had a vibration from new (posted about earlier) that can't be balanced out, even with a road force balance. The last attempt helped somewhat and I thought I could live with it but there is still an annoying vibration through the steering wheel and the whole car that is driving me nuts. I spoke to the tech who did the balance and he thinks the tires are out of round (bad batch?).

Anyway, I'm going back to Ford for a solution (set of new tires?) and was wondering if anybody else has had this problem.

No issues with my Pirelli's so far. Have they tried rotating the tires to the rear? Sometimes that can cure the issue or at least help determined that the tires are the issue. Regardless you have tire warranty through Ford and they should cover it as long as there are no signs of impact or abuse.

I believe they put the 'best' ones on the front when they did the last balance but if 3 or all 4 are bad then it won't make a difference. This vibration is not just in the steering wheel but you can feel it in the seat and any other part of the car (VERY annoying on long drives) which kind of leads to multiple tires being bad. I asked the tech about possible bad rims and he said they looked fine but he had a real hard time getting the tires balanced (had to shift them around multiple times) so I think I've got the best he could do.

Only have about 3K km's on the car so the rubber is pretty much new. I've never had a problem with tires on any new car I've bought so this is a new experience for me.

If you feel it in the seat too that does lead to the rear as well. I must say that it is very odd to have multiple tire issues at such low mileage, did you jump it lol. To me the logical thing for the dealer to do is swap wheels and tires off a car in stock just to verify that the wheels and tires are in fact the culprit. From there if its tire issue I would think they should see something funny when spinning them on the balancer.

Yeah I haven't had any issues my PZero's whatsoever. I actually really like them, but I agree with Chad, ask the dealer to swap rims & tires just to check if the issue goes away. Seems really strange.

Keep in mind when searching for info that Ford uses two different types of Pirelli tires on the Mustangs, depending on the model and option pack. Some have the all-season P-Zero Nero, some have the summer-only P-Zero.

Regardless of that, do you know if the dealership is equipped with a road-force balancer? Sometimes difficult to balance tire issues can be resolved with the use of a road-force balance machine vs. the standard types.

Good point as the Brembo cars have the summer only tires. I found it funny to see the tag on the door warning not to drive in inclement weather.

No damage to the tires. It's been like that since day one. Dealer I bought from is in Van so no chance to test drive at highway speeds or I wouldn't have taken delivery. I noticed the problem on the way home up Island as soon as I hit 110kph on the freeway.

These are the 18" all seasons on stock rims, bye the bye.

Local servicing dealer does not have a rf unit so they sent the car to a local tire shop for a road force balance. The tech who performed the service said the tires were "very difficult to balance" which sounds to me like they are flawed.

Anyway, we'll see what they say tomorrow. They can swap or replace - whatever. I've tried to be reasonable but I see no reason my brand new Mustang shouldn't ride as vibration free as my 12 year old 3/4 ton GMC pickup.

You are absolutely right no reason at all. Hope they get it sorted out for you.
