4.6 2v to 5.4 2v Swap!
Hey All, been working on the GT (rear end, gears, axles, suspension etc.) so that I can finally pick what I should do to the engine. Wanted to cam it, then supercharge it, ($$$$$$$$$ ) but im liking the idea of finding a low KM 5.4 from a lincoln Navigator or other such fords, that have ended up in the yard or something, that have real low KMs and then doing a nice project build. (Don't wanna ruin my older engine and spend loads after the fact that it blew) I read lots of people grabbing real nice Low KM ones from 700 - 1500 and then swapping it relatively easy as most of the parts can be used for both engines, and only small things need to be changed here and there. Any one have experience on this, or where or who sells any used 5.4's in the lower mainland?

Not sure if this helps, but I remember reading this article a while back...

Great find and Article! That 5.4 Tuned really just would have so much more pep to it right off the bat, and if I can find one for a good price, that I can be assured works im going to use that as a baseline for my build! I've got a couple grand invested for a procharger or any good supercharger really that comes up for a good price! The thing I liked about the 5.4 is I could easily find a used lightning supercharger around my area for relatively cheap. So those navigator's are 4v? Do you know what year those 4v engines were?

The Navigator got the 4V 5.4L mid-way through 1999 to 2004 when Navigator went to the more common 3V 5.4 Triton used in F150's.
If you haven't already stumbled across this look this over.

I'm liking where this thread is going. My only advice to you is establish a clear budget, performance goals THEN make your decision to swap or not. I've done a swap and a build (well, 1/2 way through a build) and both are not cheap. Fun, but definitely not cheap.
One last comment ... 5.4 for the win!

Good find herbz on the swap, as far as I have read too, it's one of the easier swaps, and for sure gives you a better platform to build on. Well Vaem lets just say I know that anything I choose to do is going to be expensive, I got lots of time, and im just working right now so money isn't too much of any issue, just takes those few weeks to go by for a pay cheque! I don't race at a track, but I'd like to in the future once I get a build going, and something mid to low 12's or high 11's would be sweet for starters. Basically I have to make a choice between building my stock engine, and supercharging, or finding a low KM 5.4, and then use that for a nice build platform in which I can cam and superchargeit in the future as well. Since you've done both what would you say!
