Cat-Back question
Ok here goes ....
Have a '97GT VERT with an after market H-PIPE no cats. Was wondering bang for your buck sound wise .... what would be the best cat-back. Not to worried at this time about DRONE since I don't drive it (usually with the top on ... :) ) I was looking at the classic Flowmaster cat-back with the new super 44 series muffler or the Deltaflows 40's. I was also at Carlisle last fall and came so close to getting the PYPES cat-back with Violator mufflers ... but at the last second chickened out cause not sure what it would sound like .... any suggestions as to what you guys ride out there with a similar car like mine ?? thanks again Ralph :tup |
I personally love the sound the pypes system makes. Hit up youtube to watch some videos of them.

I did that (youtube) .. problem is that most of them out there (sound clips) people tend to shove their camera's inside the tailpipe ... u just hear a whole lot of DRONE ....
Will see what else I can find ... |
Allot of reviews I read when searching for exhaust was that guys preferred the Flowmasters. I have flow master axle-backs on mine and people ask me what type I have on there cause they like the sound. After reviewing countless youtube clips I liked the Flows most out of all of them. I gives a nice aggressive sound and a old school muscle feel.

I know what you're saying ... i'm leaning more and more on the Flowmaster brand :tup

Adda boy...I don't think you will regret it. The only thing I reqret is that I did not do it sooner and that I bought them just before they came out with thier stainless American Thunders. :(

One more thing ... cause i've been looking around since this morning ... Noticed MAC also. I've seen/heard some decent sounding clips on Youtube + I can get them with 3" tips on my year stang .... things that make you go ummm:?

One of the other things I did as well was at our regular Wednesday meets I would look at the different stangs with aftermarket exhaust and ask the owner to start her up so I could hear it. Now I was lucky with the S197 as there were allot and most everyone had one of the more popular brands on their car so I heard then all. One thing I found is most of the higher priced brands like Mac, Borla, Steeda, FRPP...ect trumpet vs growl and on deceleration tend to pop from back pressure. The Flows don't do that and that is what allot of folks like about my set up and ask me about. New, they had some drone but now that they are broken in...I love em.
There was a web site that had all the major exhaust brands on it. Let me see if I can find it. |
Here you go...
MustangExhaust.com - Blog It is a forum. Sign up and they have a tab at the top of the page that you can here every type of exhaust for every year. Cheers |
The Deltaflow 40's will be a little more tame in sound. They still sound good, but if you are looking at the 40's,the "originals" as they are called have the classic Flowmaster sound that most love.:tup
