Yes, the gains from that intake would be minimal, the only good intake for 4.6s is the P-51 and even that one would be lucky to make 15hp on your car.

The PI intake from a '99+ is more improved then the '96 to '98,and guys with those years of stangs have seen a LITTLE bit of a gain when going to the PI intake. If you could find one cheap/used,yeah worth it,and a bonus would be the aluminum coolant cross over. But if you have plans down the road, save your bucks for sure, and don't even bother!

The thing with the P51 is that you really need to have head work,a nice set of cams, and full exhaust to benefit from it.Other wise it will only hurt your performance as it stands. That intake is designed to run/work in higher rpms, and you will lose your lower rpm torque.
People don't realise that the stock intake is really good,it's runners are smooth due to being plastis, being plastic it doesn't trap heat, and the runners are tuned for lower rpm range, that thing that helps out your torque, which the 4.6 lack already. This is probably why the aftermarket is having a hard time coming out with a street intake that will give you some gains. All the intakes on the market right now, minus the Bullitt intake are designed for higher end rpm hp.Now,if you are patient, trick flow does have an intake coming out that is similar to the Bullit in design, and it might be the answer.
What you need to do is figure out what you really want to build,a race car,or a street car.Only then from there, you can decide on intakes.

Ahem, it's Ponyryd-no e, lol. If you get a Bullitt intake, you're best off to have it ported as the gains are minimal as cast. If you're looking for one, talk to 1LOW03GT as I believe he just got one for his ride and has probably researched the shait out of 4.6 intakes.
