cold air intakes?

I think Roush only gives you 1 tune though using premium fuel. SCT dealers can give you 3 with the cai you using, say for example a 87-91 or 93 octane tunes. Lets you choose which fuel to run.
I'm thinking of buying a FRPP Bullitt cai from Brenspeed since I already have a SCT tuner from them running a 87 stock, 87 Race and 91 race with my stock intake. I believe they'll upgrade my tunes for free with any extra engine mods I buy from them.

A custom tune is where all the magic happens. Without that a CAI is nothing more than a showpiece under the hood.
With that said the 2 best CAI available right now for 05+ Mustang GT are JLT and C&L. I'd loved to have supported WMS as they are local boys. But 5.0 Magazine tested all intakes including WMS and it came up short to the other two. I went with JLT and had the tube painted to match body color. It looks killer.
Brenspeed and Bamachips are highly regarded for there custom tunes. I opted for Bamachips. Tuned with SCTX3. No regrets.

Ditto nothing happens without the tune!

One more vote for a waste of cash without the tune - a CAI without the tune is like all that underhood bling-bling. Lots of show, but no go.
I'm thinking the Ford Racing package myself. Not sure what the price tag is, but at least I don't have to worry about warranty. That's long gone- if you're concerned about warranty, might as well forget the mods until 3 years/ 60000km is up.

Quite frankly getting 3 tunes of various octane levels is exactly the same as getting 1 tune of 1 octane level.
I do not know anyone who clears their fuel system to change the octane level of their fuel/tune.
Get a good CAI and either order some tunes from a reputable mail order place like BAMA or get a dyno tune.

I have the K&N CAI without a tune. It seems to help mileage out and as the intake is not muffled makes the whole car sound better when I boot it. AS I want to keep this car a while (I'm retired) I usually don't get to 6000 rpm to ge the extra hp promised. Still the wife and I had a ball on the way crosscountry from St Jacobs to Wasaga

I would purchase a CAI and Tuner combo from AM. Bama has teamed up with AM and you will become a free tunes for life member so any new power mods you just phone them up and let them know what you have added and in 72 hours you will have your new tunes. I bought a K&N and a Diablo tuner then purchased Bamas 87(winter), 91 performance and 91 race tunes. Each tune is different in the way the car performs. The 87 wakes up the car and is a very street drivable tune. I use this tune in the winter. The 91 performance tune really wakes the car up and is a very drivable street tune. The Race is very aggressive and I have to admit I love the power of this tune right off the line.

+1 for getting a tune with it, I went with the JLT + 3 brenspeed tunes; 87 octane, 91 and 93. I run the 93 octane tune because it just pulls at around 3000rpm and it is by far the best(IMO no proof) even if you drive calm to save gas I've found, but it does cost more.

It really all depends on what you plan doing to the car. If you're planning on doing other mods, like exhaust, gears, or even new cam definately get a CAI with a tune. That way you can use your tuner to calibrate the other mods.
However, if you all your thinking of is getting a CAI, then I would recommend a Granatelli. That's what I have and it comes with a harness that has a hard-coded tune (chip inside the harness) in it specifically for the intake. They go for about $350.00 US.
I had the car dyno'd and I've got 287rwhp with that being the only performance mod. I'm pretty sure a stock '08GT (stick) at the wheels is around 260hp.
