Edelbrock Supercharger

Hi everyone. I am new to this forum and glad that we have a Canadian site to discuss things.

I saw in Hot Rod Magazine the new Edelbrock Supercharger. Cost = $7400 tax in (Alberta) uninstalled.

I was wondering if anyone had one installed or was going to install one? Any performance issues? How does it compare to other S/C like Saleen, Procharger, Roush etc...What is the sound like compared to others?

I have an 06 GT with no mods on it and am looking at all the options.

Thanks!

Just saw a magazine ad for that a few days ago, looks like a sweet package. The blower being used is the same style of unit as the upgrade blower that FRPP sells for the Shelby GT-500, a 2300 TVS Eaton.

cheers

That is a sweet looking blower, I bet it would work well too.

Only certain vendors actually have their hands on them so far and are in the tuning/testing phase. They look like they will work well, we'll have to wait to find out what the limit will be with them as far as boost etc. Basically all of the s/c kits out there are good, the only real differences are in how they are setup on the car and the limits of power that can be attained. Personally I think twinscrew blowers are the way to go with all the low end torque. You can't go wrong with kenne bell, whipple or saleen although more power can be made with kenne bell and whipple than saleen. The saleen blower reaches its max flow capacity around 600rwhp while the others can do 800 easy.

IMO you'd be better off going with one of the setups that's already established and has it's limits known. There already are supporting mods for them and people know what they break. I'm sure the edelbrock and techco blowers will be great but I'd want to wait and find out what their limits are first before buying one. For all we know there could be design flaws that aren't known yet.

Some excellent advice 2Kanchoo! Yes, I will be sure to see what happens in the near future. I am certainly in no rush to do this.

As with anything first generation, I too am sure there will be glitches along the way. Your advice about the tried and true SC out there is good as there are certainly options to bolt onto those SC that have been around for a while.

To add to this I have heard of a few people now having less than stellar results/problems with the edelbrock blower. I'm sure edelbrock being the great company it is will rectify the situation but it goes to show like I said, unless you're loaded, don't be the test mule.

The techo unit on the other hand I have yet to hear anything bad about other than the price. All their stuff is expensive but seems to be top notch. Also made in house there are vids of their shop and the milling processes (cnc machines etc) that they utilize to make the parts, for their parts.
