Sean Hyland Motor Sports
Hey guys I am looking to have a Kenne B SC installed on my 2008 GT I am lean towrd Sean Hyland in Woodstock for the purchase and install I would like too know if anyone on here has had dealings with them and what the result may have been. I am hearing so far that they are higher in price point then other places but they do good work. The price does not scare me as I feel if the work and service is good you get what you pay for IMO. Just want to know if there service is good and they stand behind there work.

Never dealt with SHM before but I've heard he is quite the mod motor expert. Saw him on SpikeTV's Horsepower show building a 4.6 for them. Just announced he is now the first authorized Shelby builder outside of the US...

i don't know anyone personally that has had work done there, but everytime i go by there's a handful of "dream" cars there. Last week there were 2 full road race cars, a Full Drag cobra, and a pimped cobra from Illinois. And that's just the cars that were outside, saw a 60's camaro i thought on a hoist.
In the summer the one day there were 2 Ford GT's, 2 full size car haulers (nascar trailer sized) and multiple classic mustangs and modded cobras in the parking lot. All those people can't be wrong can they? :) All i know is i almost run into the ditch everytime i go past as i'm staring at what happens to be outside on that run. Some amazing cars go in and out of there. |
A bubby of mine got a cold air intake and exhaust system for his '07 GT from him, and he said that it was more but the service is great. I also seen him on spike, and if he has been chosen by them to build a motor, its got to be good.

Most shops sell their souls for a bit of print / air time... seen it done. That said, I believe SH is fairly reputable though I have never dealt with him myself. Avoid the butcher shops. Go ask him them some q's and see how it goes. If he gets bent, go elsewhere. Just remember all shops have horror stories... all! |

I bought a 2valve longblock from him and it works just great. It was pricey but He threw in a free pair of longtubes because I paid cash. After the motor was complete purchased and installed, I made a call to ask a few questions and I felt very pushed to the side. Although Sean was knowledgable and has a state of the art facility, he is very busy, and he rarely returned my calls after the purchase. The manager Wayne was very rude and treated me like a little kid. Product was good. Service not so much.
I'd suggest dealing with steeda.ca I went there after the SHM experience and Pat, Todd and Mike are a pleasure to deal with. I've had work done there and bought many parts from Pat. Mike is a smart mechanic, The weekend before Pinks, Pat even lent me his personal alternator off his car when mine blew up on the dyno. Can't ask for anymore than that! |
Go to s197forum.com and corral.com and ask the same question before you spend your money.
I've always spent my money south of the border because "they" have much more (10X) the experience building anything. As much as I want to support thr Cdn economy the experience in tuning and building is not here. I'd say go to Livernois in Detroit and be done with it. They will back up their equipment. At least talk to them first before committing. |
I've heard bad things about their service.
If you just want to order the KB kit from them, that should be fine. You might want to consider having it installed somewhere else or just doing it yourself (it's really not that hard). |

if u wanna drive out of canada, go see team jdm (jdm engineering) in new jersey.
prices are reasonable more or less. installation and service is exceptional. and jim sr is a tunning wizard, no bullshit, straight to the point. :chacha: |
Short version? It is difficult to find any good service when any type of quality is expected, we all know that, at least that has been my experience over the years. If you are going to have something special you will have to do most of the work and rely on limited help.
I bought a complete cold air system and tune, long tube kooks exhaust, 3:73 gears and FFRP suspension as part of a 15k conversion of my GT500 into a Super Snake. The negative was the parts arrived in shambles because heavy rear-end gears and pulley parts tumbled over each other, and sensitive electronics, :banghead: as DHL did their usual lousy delivery work. A call to SHM to complain about the packing, and some photos of the unbelievable attempt to make a new box out of shipping tape, left the ball in their court. :bleh: I too dealt with Wayne at SHM, but he was not rude, maybe he had got the message:rolleyes:. SHM replaced all of the damaged parts, and there were many, and expedited the return shipping. Great. After the extended waiting I installed the system, tuned up, and off to the local dyno shop (fast specialties). Surprise! She is putting up big numbers when the shop shuts her down exclaiming, she is dangerously lean! Not sure :confused: I allowed them to adjust the tune. Finishing with a modest HP gain of 60HP I later called SHM whom called the local dyno shop and they "had it out". Two days later, I had the answer, the engine light was on and the exhaust smelled of fuel (too rich). A panic call went to SHM when the attempt to reload the SHM tune revealed it was missing:banghead: from the tuner, save only the title remained in the tuner. I did not even bother to ask the local dyno shop what happened, what would be the point. After discussions with Wayne, SHM agreed to email the original SHM GT500 tune. And days later, with a successful retune and another dyno shop, (THAT DOES NOT TOUCH MY TUNE!) we find power gains of 115hp :tupover the original 446RWHP. The standout shelby hood pins and shelby hood lettering with the new HP have made this car well known in my area :chacha: and SHM is a part of that. It all could have been better but as I said the consumer has the burden and always will. Fast Eddie |

Obviously not interested in driving your Shelby to Vegas and throwing down the $30k to have the real Super Snake package installed. Can't blame you on that one, but don't go around saying you turned your GT500 into a Super Snake for $15,000 by doing it yourself - all you've got is a modded GT500, not a Super Snake, and adding some hood pins and lettering on the hood don't make it so . I ordered a Kenne Bell and had the boys there install it. Other than a delay in getting the product and re-scheduling the appointment evrything went like clockwork. Very happy camper here. Only negative thing I have to say is that Wayne doesn't appear to really know his stuff but the guys do in the back and thats all that matters. I give Sean Hyland and his crew full points for a great job. |

I've dealt with Sean Hyland Motorsports, and now having dealt with many other shops, I must say, Sean is top notch. Very smart and will be fair to you. Just my experience. It probably helps that I've spent over $40,000 there during the past 13 years.

Old thread but I've been dealing with SHM since 1997 and have had great service and good luck with him. I recommend him very highly. OOPS, I just saw I already responded to this before. Oh well.

I bought a 2012 gt cs that shm did the super charger kit, it's actually the one on his flyer. I was wondering if you ever upgraded or know anything about getting a smaller pulley. And knowledge about this kit would be awesome |
