Tuning (what to do)
so i have a GT 4.6 and know a little about cars<
but this tuning stuff i dont know much about,, and the little tricks with Mustang, i have had the car for 2 months now and all is good (VERY GOOD) so im thinking of getting the oil changed at the mustang shop we have in town ,,talked to them and they say bring it in asked about the tuning and they said i could by one for 300.00 or something like that,or they could just tune it for me<<What im getting at is i want someone that knows mustangs to look at it and give me a heads up on what to do as far as tuning and stuff like that, with out paying out my beep,,,??should i get a tuner ?///and what do i want tuned and any other tips you guys can give me about servicing or small upgrades >>>sorry not the best at typing what i want to say ,,,,THANKS //what should i tell the Tech to do ttype thing?? |
When it comes to tuning you want a reputable shop to do it. If you don't have much for mods and custom tune isn't really necessary. You can purchase a tuner online with a tune that will work great for you. Stick with a company like SCT and it should work great for you.

If your going to get a tune go with someone who has lots of experience as if you don't you will just end up with a can email tune that anyone can get off the net,
I recommend diago at dct in this area DCT Performance |

Since you live in Milton go see Pat at Steeda.ca
Pretty sure Pat will retune your car anytime you purchase new parts that require a tune. Dyno Services & Custom Dyno Tuning in Toronto Canada - Steeda.ca |

Bought my SCT tuner from Steeda as well when they installed the 3:73 gears and x-pipe. I've since installed the steeda cai this spring and they emailed the tune to me. I was a bit nervous since it was my first time using the tuner, but Pat was helpful in answering my questions and sending directions. I guess I was just nervous about touching the computer, not wanting to screw it up.

Wish there was a Steeda shop closer to me but I'll probably go with AM as they also have free tunes for life, even if you don't buy the parts from them, will steeda retune free if u don't buy new mods from them?

I don't have a tuner yet, but I'll keep him in mind, thanks!

Has anyone tried the tuner and CAI made by Ford Racing? The tune is supposed to be safer for the engine by making sure the AF ratio is maintained. They might not make as many HP but I wonder if the engine would like it better. I saw it on the Sean Hyland Motorsports website. There is also a good write up in the Ford Racing catalogue.

If you got an 08, then I think your pretty safe with a Steeda or Bama (AM) tune. You'll get a better tune from one of them than Ford, and they've been tuning 4.6's for a long time.

Misener motorsports in Brantford........ Jay Misener is a great guy to deal with and has had some pretty sweet cars he has tuned! Dyno tuning will be better than a canned tune as every car is different!
