So last week I checked my oil and was down almost a liter. I topped it up and now after about 700 miles I am down about 1/4 liter. I see no smoke while driving yet had a bit of a surprise this morning. Started my car long enough to back it out of the garage and wash it. No smoke. Then when I started it about 45 minutes later there was a cloud of smoke. This leads me to think valve seals. I am going to do a compression taste later today.

If it's the seals what's the easiest fix? Replace just the seals or is now the time to think about upgrading the heads? I want to try and go as cheap as possible but not cheap out if you know what I mean. Reason being is I already have to replace my tranny and rear end as well as what I just spent on a procharger.

"what's the easiest fix?" no need to remove the heads to replace the seals ,, the easiest fix ,, remove the plugs ,, buy the air adapter ,, run compressed air to 1 cyl at a time to keep valve seated in place ,, use a spring remover ,, compress the spring pop the retainer change the seal ,, cheap ,, fast ,,easy ,, may as well toss a new set of valve cover gaskets to the cost. .. just sayin!!! either way good luck wait on the other hand ,, if your married and looking for an excuess to change the heads ,, don't tell the wife there is an easy fix ,, lol

 

if it is anything like the stock v6 the oil will be in the intake manifold waiting to be sucked into your engine.this is one of the reasons i built my own manifold.the v6 manifold dips down just after the tb and curls back up at the back and around back to the front.this is done to increase plenum size.then the runners take the air from the top and into the motor.this leaves a low spot for the oil to settle out and sit.when i removed my stock manifold i had to EMPTY IT! it is a truly design.get an oil catch can they are great at seperating the oil and containing it for emptying later,at about every 2500 klms or so.this will be needed for the procharger for sure.upr makes a nice catchcan.hope this helps.

 

I am looking at a catch can. I am confused though. BMR sayd to hook it into the passenger side line where the one from American Muscle says to use the drivers side line. Which one do I use?

 

i really couldn't tell you on the v8 where to tap in.i have the upr and tapped into the passenger side.

 

You want to tap into the passenger side.I've done a similar set up,and you wouldn't believe the amount of oil the catcgh can catchs,and stops from going into the intake!!

 

So would it not still take oil in the drivers side?

 

It's a conspiracy I tell you. I have never lost any oil luckily I guess
