"if you're referring to a shop like dasilvas (because one shop is all you know and live off of on gtamc), then yes, they don't tune...mind you I'm sure they can swap in a diablo sport in RECORD holding time.....
Dasilva doesnt do alot of things.."

2tone 93gt you need to get your information straight, when was the last time you were at Dasilva Racing? You should get your information from a credible source before you flap your gums. They tune and dyno on a daily basis, and even some guys from the U.S. go there. And as far as them just doing bolt on's thats b.s. as well, most of the work they do there is bolt on's cause thats where the money is, building motors are too time consumeing. They are business people, and they do what is good for business, and if that means doing 10 blowers a week than thats what they'll do. Jealous people like you should keep your mouth shut, and if your gonna flap, make sure your information is right. I have 2 mustangs in my garage built by Dasilva and they will both give you a beeting any day of the week.

Dear girl with the fast cars..

I called Dasilva to check up on what you just posted. When asking the lady who answered the phone (Angela) what do they tune with on the dyno, she said “SUPERCHIP”... i asked anything else.. she forwarded me to Diego
So Diego from Dasilva went on to say that the only thing they do inhouse is Superchip for the "newer cars" (diego's words). I explained i wanted my fox done, he said go DFI. I asked if they (being Dasilva) could tune that on the dyno rather than plugging in a chip, he said yes. I then asked is this an inhouse tuner or out of shop, as i dont want to pay for some guy to be flown in..... Diego went on to tell me that they call their tuner that theyve used since 97 to come in and tune DFI, he is not an INHOUSE tuner……

I asked Diego, what else do u guys use?? all he said was superchips.

Plugging in a chip isnt tuning a car Ford Girl..but, to double check my work i went to the super chips website to dig deeper into your claims of Dasivla being a tuner... I went to find a local dealer. Entered my Info, i got a ton of shops including PI, but no dasilva. So i called PI at Queensway and spoke to Mike. My question to mike was: "where do i take my SUPERCHIP if i order from u to get setup for my car". Mike said "no where, theyre already setup from superchips". I then asked, what year will these chips work for, he said "96+ mustang"...

sorry bout flapping my gums

Cheers

So you think that at Dasilva they just order the chip and plug it in, your wrong, they custom format the chip to what ever you have then burn it, when the cars are on the dyno they customize the chip, and they do a dyno pull, then change it, and so on, adding air, adding fuel, changing timeing ect. Do you not classify that as tuning?

if adjusting:
shift points
shift firmness
raising or lowering vehicle rpms, speed limiters
and the turn on for your fans is tuning to you.. then :tup

Anyways..whatever the case, youre giving me butterflies the way you got all worked up

I personally dont care where the tuner is. I would rather have a much better tuner 10,000 miles away emailing a file than a crappy inhouse tuner. When I got my Shelby tuned the shop put the car on the Dyno, Took all readings, emailed readings to a guy in California, Guy in California emails back a file, Make another run, change anything as nessasary. There were no local tuners of his skill. Lets take superchips. You can buy the Superchips datalogger make a dyno pull. Send the info to the best dam tuner in the world and have HIM create the tune. I dont see how a shop needs professional concentrated skills to produce professional results. I have seen Jay Smiths Mustang beat most cars on the street, his car was done at DaSilvas. If they did it themselves or contarcted the job out, either way they produced professional results. Now lets take Steeda, They also do good tuning but didn't have their own "inhouse" dyno. Still they produced professional results. They do what has to be done to produce the final product, even if if means using someone elses dyno!

we'll thanks for validating my point exactly. They don't tune in house, any monkey can dyno a car, grab your a/f, graph it and send it off to anumber cruncher in the US...
There are plenty of tuners in Canada that are capable of tuning cars, be it imports or domestics....
I to believe Steeda and Dasilva can produce good numbers, but my argument was that Dasilva doesn't tune his customers cars himself.. :dunno

I am not sure what DaSilvas cababilities are but if there isnt a local tuner that has skills is ther really a difference if he is there or not? You still get the same results.

but alas, i believe there are local guys who can tune.

i would hate to be in the situation where a shop has all the specs, info and details on my car and not want to release them to me... either by choice or just not knowing..Dasilva wouldnt even release cam specs to one of his customers... :dunno

Customer: Hi Joe, umm, that tune you did on my car, umm.. i have a question about at the 5400 RPM range, theres a bog on the car when I'm driving... can you advise?

Joe: Sure, XXX I'm busy right now, but ill get back to you.
**emails superchips tuner in the USA.

2 days later and 20 calls

Joe: Bring the car in, i need to retune it!

repeat process. :)

Easily resolved if it was an in house tuner.. take the car around the block, check wher the issue is, tune on the fly a/f ratio... issue resolved.

End note, if you're happy with any shop, stick to it..be it Dasilva, Steeda or who ever. Some of us have been to many stang shops and speak from experience. I wouldn't touch Dasilvas again. They're not capable of meeting my needs or expectations.

I would steer people to Steeda before Dasilva because in my opinion Steeda really strives for customer satisfaction judging from what i have seen on the internet.

You know I will be the last person to defend "the other shop" and all I can comment on what you guys are saying about them is ;) :tup

Rick and others, please make sure you do not confuse Superchips and Superchips Custom Tuning, now called SCT.

Superchips has hand held microtuners and preprogrammed chips (blue and red chips that say SUPERCHIPS on them).

SCT has two types of chips we can use. Their multi program chip and a Red Back chip that says "SCT" on it...not SUPERCHIPS.

This is why you did not find them as a dealer. They are on the SCT site.

Dasilva is a SCT dealer just like us. Do they custom tune in house....have they sourced out SCT tunes...I don't know

Do we custom tune in house. Yes. We do not simply plug in a pre-burnt chip and go, or send "data" to someone in the us. Every car I touch get's a full CUSTOM TUNE. We do tune fox body's, we can answer all your questions on the spot and will not put you off and tell you to come in after we send out information.

As far as us, we have the most up to date and high tech tuning tools offered

I know you were not taking a shot at us. I am just clearing up the situation for people who think all shops are like the others.
