It isn't a bad idea to port heads for the stage 2's,it will give you a little more hp,but a the same time, the stage 2 cams can work well even if you don't do any porting. Some guys don't want to pull their heads of,and some do.
And a higher up ford tech that i talk with quite frequently said the same.He stated that the PI heads flow very well compared to the previous years, aswell compared to the ol' 5.0L cylinder heads.
So the descission would be based on how much hp you want to squeeze out of your 4.6 .
If the Stage II cams give this kind of gain (up to 35hp) what kinds of gains would you see with the VT Stage I ported heads and Stage II cams. Or, how much more power will the ported heads give you?

I think you can expect 330rwhp with Stage 2 Cams and Stage 2 Ported Heads

Let me correct myself, sence i just re read the post .
I was just giving gains with only ported heads, which seems to be close to what Paul is saying if you add in the cams.
Guys just adding in cams without the ported heads, and depending on the bolt ons,are usually hitting between 280 to 300 hp,and also depending on the tune.

My bad, sometimes i read to fast.

I have a 3 different sound clips of the VT stage II's,but can't host them.
They sound wicked with a nice exhaust set up.

It is all in the exhaust setup...you wont get that deep muscle sound with a borla/x pipe setup.

One of our customers with a 2V (top 5 in the world - 600rwhp on pump gas and runs 9's) has a Livernois Custom Grind, Prochamber, FLows and Dumps and it sounds like a big block...freakin insane

You London guys must know him...Karlo with the purple 96
