First oil change

When would you get your first oil change (how many kms in) and when in kms would you pour synthetic?

Well right now you have semi synthetic 5w20 in it from Ford. I would change at 5000 and stay with the semi syn from Ford or do the switch to full syn than. At 5000 k's it would be okay. Oh yea, you probally did not know that you had semi synthetic from the factory right? My first oil change at the "dealer" the idiots put in bulk 10w30. Now there is nothing wrong witha that ild and it would not have hurt anything but you would think the dumb ***** would know what kind of oil there cars take. Sorry for the vent. Be specific if you take it to your local Ford dealship for oil changes. Another little bit of oil info is that the ford Motorcraft filter is one ot the best filters tested out of most major brands. Only WIX scored higher. In southern ontario we can not get WIX but can get the NAPA GOLD filter which is a repacked for NAPA WIX filter. (I am switching next oil change) So do not be like me and by Fram (you can pay me know or pay me later) or K&N, buy regular Motorcraft or NAPA GOLD. Hope this has been entertaining and helpful. Be cool.

Funny you mention it. Went back to Rose City to ask about the oil in the car. I read in the owners manual that it was synthetic and asked: oh boy, they ran around like chickens with their heads cut off to find the answer I just thought I should dump the oil way before 5000 kms being it is a new engine? Thanks for your help. Remember kill a commie for your mommie

Just follow exactly what is says in the manual. That way, you know your covered via warranty. Don't do the oil change yourself, take it back to Ford.

I run synthetic and in 3 months there will only be 1200 kms. Most advertising will state 3 months or some amount of mileage. If changing own oil can one not just keep all the appropriate receipts?

It is just good to get one from the dealer and than keep all the rest of the receipts after that. I do not think you need to do this really but better safe than sorry.

I personally would do it at 2500 then 5000. ...and yes let the dealer do it easier to prove they were done if any warranty issues come up.

If you are a do it yourselfer keep receipts for sure.

After 5000 I would run full synthetic everything should be seated by then.

my .01

Cheers!

I like the 2500 number. My only other question is that will take 6 months or so. Do I have to change at 3 months?

You need to drive more bud!

The manual says 5000 or 3 months so follow that I guess.

BTW very nice ride! ... I can't wait for the Shelby. I finally figured out why I like it better than the GT and it's mostly due to the optical illusion that the rear end is smaller than it really is. The black stripe at the bottom eats up some body so it looks sleeker.

The price and insurance may clobber that idea.

Cheers!
