Some advice please on mods I have to date!

Okay, need some guidance from you all.
2003 Mach1. Going to have an SLP cat back installed, PHP intake spacer, and Steeda CAI.

I am using the SCT 1725 Max MicroTuner that puts a out of the box tune on but I mainly bought it to change the speedo for the 4.10's. I do not think I can just change the speedo on this model so have to use the tune that is in it.

Question: I have heard/read that this SCT 1725 Max MicroTuner advances the timning and adjusts the air/fuel to get any type of performance gain, in a nut shell it makes you lean.

Now, with adding a CAI and a cat back and a spacer do you think that the Air/fuel ratio will be safe? I do not think that the PHP Intake spacer has any affect at all on this, but mentioned since I am adding it. (I could be wrong)

All I hear anymore is about a tune and air/fuel ratio being lean. I do not think I have added enough parts for a tune and really do not care what my HP is on paper as long as I go faster than last year.

What I do not want happening is a lean condition where I am hurting the engine at WOT because of the amount of time I race my car.

Please assist. Educated guesses are fine, some proffessional advice from the sponsers and speed shops would also be appreciated.

I do not know enough about this to not worry about what I have read and do not want anything to happen to my car from lack of knowledge on my part and maybe trying to save $500.00.

Thanks guys. I appreciate all the advice and comments that you have throwen my way since joining here. With all the brand names I wrote I feel like it was a Nascar interview.

My 2003 Ford, PHP, Steeda, SCT, Nitto, Lakewood, SLP, Moser, Ford Motorsport, Pro 5.0, RTM Motorsport, Mach 1 was tight in the corner and loose out. The crew did one hell of a job and I just like to say hi to my....

What he said ^^^^^^^^

I am curious myself with my setup... which is similar.

I know a place that will give you 3 dyno runs for about 50 bucks... don't know if that includes check a/f.

1725

Hey Greg, I will be 100% honest.

I have never seen the results from the 1725 and I do not know what the air fuel is like or how much timing advance there is when using the 1725 on a bone stock car - (my guess is somewhere around 12.5:1). If you have a dyno chart showing its results I can better help you. I have seen the results of one of our customers who I sent my custom mail order tune to for his Mach (Was around 12.8:1). After he installed the CAI, his tune did not change enough to sound the alarm's (12.9-13.0). On a N/A Car I like the AFR to be anywhere between 12.5-13.1

I have not personally seen any Data from using a Spacer other than the dyno graphs online (we just put one on a car for the first time Friday and he is getting a full tune in the spring). To really take advantage of the mod's you have and to squeeze every HP out of her I would get a custom dyno tune. A mail order tune will work just fine as well. This will get your A/F and timing setup for optimum performance.

The 1725 tune should be good enough and not let it run lean, but my advice is to strap it on a dyno and verify the results. You can use a tail pipe sniffer for something like this, but the most accurate readings are found when using a wideband 02 before the cat's as close to the collectors as possible

Just one man's opinion

If your looking for some info on the Mach 1 with mods and dyno results, go to the Mach 1 registry. Those guys have done practically ever mod with dyno results. By the way, a hand held tuner only advance the timing 2 degrees. You can have it re-programmed by SCT.

Steeda in Milton needs a dyno. They have a dyno at Tag motorsport in Oakville.

Dasilva Racing has a dyno as well, I have no affiliation with them.
Just stating the facts.

Anyone know of any others not mentioned here?
