2011-2014 Coyote engine tick

I got a little off topic from the OP mentioned 2V and 3V engines.
I cannot speak for your Ecoboost. The OP's statement about sounding like a bbq lighter made me think of owners who used Fram filters on 2V/3V 5.4L trucks and encountered similar phenomenon. Plenty of threads on F150 forums and lots of crap mixed in with owner accounts to sift through. The gist of it was Fram was singled out for good filtering but poor flow, the oil itself was irrelevant. Too vague of a statement on my part.
I definitely agree with your statement about the VCT and injectors being noisy. Seems odd it crops up after an oil change.

I have a 13 5.0 and it's gone through 4 oil changes but no issues with ticking at all. There has been quit a few owners complaining but newer built cars say late 2012 thought to 14's don't seem to have a issue. From my understanding the oil has changed say 5w20 to 5w50 just for a example.I have taken my car both to a ford dealership using motorcraft products but I'm now using Mobil one no complaints so far.I figure if it's not ticking now it probably never will.
