88 Lx upgrades
Hello, im new here and to mustangs.... I've been around and involved with racing all my life. Now im trying my kick at drag racing.
As of right now I have a 88 LX. the car has 50,000km's on her so she is still in amazing shape.
Right now for mods i have
flowmaster
b&m shorty header
b&mshort shift kit
3,7,3's
V-1 SC-Trim running at 8 lbs of boost.
Edelbrock Performer Intake
75mm Throttle Body
frame connectors
thats all I can think of right now... long day at workk... but im sure thats about it.
Now im looking to spend about 10 grand on it for work and labour I was quoted this by dasilva racing... they say ill be close to 500 rwhp after it.

Bearings -
ARP Bolts & Studs -
Centerforce clutch -
Gasket kit (not incl. head gasket) -
Spark Plugs -
Gaskets -
Oil & Filter -
Blower Pulley - get the blower to 12 psi

42LB Injectors -
PMAS 80mm Mass Air -
B303 Cam -
Timing Chain -

The price for all that so far is under 5 grand.
Now my question for this do you guys think its a good way to go... or is there someelse i should lookinto for better outcome in the end??

OK, first thing you are going to need is a block. The stock blocks like to break at the 500+RWHP level.
The combo you listed above is the "defacto" DaSilva Combo. It gets the job done, but with a $10,000 budget, and already having a blower, I'd go further.
Buy a Dart block or R302 or the like and have it machined (we'll say you'll get the stock deck height version for now).
Buy a good, forged, 347 stroker kit.
Buy a good set of heads, maybe AFR 205's.
Buy a better intake, maybe the Performer RPM II or the TFS-R as well as a 75mm TB, SCT MAF and 72lb/hr injectors.
Get a custom camshaft done by Jay Allen (www.camshaftinnovations.com) or Ed Curtis (www.flowtechinduction.com) to suite what you want the car to behave like.
You will also need link-bar style roller lifters (either solid or Hydraulic roller, depending on what you work out with the camshaft grinder), rockers and of course gaskets, miscelaneous hardware....etc.
There will be a pretty good price tag on the machine work, but if you know a reputable machine shop, getting the block done and getting a good stroker kit should be quite easy and not insanely expensive.
Once its together, take it up to Paul from Steeda and get him to do your blower pulley and custom tune with a chip.
The above combo has the potential to make ~700RWHP with enough boost and be INSANELY reliable. You already have the blower, so that SHOULD keep the above at about your $10,000 budget.
Don't forget you will also need to upgrade your fuel system to handle the increase fuel demand, which is something you could talk about with Paul as well.
