EGR spacer question

OK...I installed a new TB and EGR spacer last night but didn't notice a few things about the spacer compared to the stock one I took off the car.

The stock spacer is a solid block/unit but the new spacer is not a "block" unit. In looking at it on the car, I can see the EGR valve where it bolts to spacer (the inside). I assume this is not normal? When I start the car it sounds like a truck and I can feel air blowing around the front of the spacer - from the spacer (yes I used all new gaskets).

I drove the car around the block but the "check engine" light did not come on.
Would it hurt the engine to drive it like this until I figure it out?

Any recommendations?

See circled area in pics.

I bought it new off corral (it actually came with a 65mm TB) but the guy who sold it to me is sending a replacement so I may be OK. I'll see when the replacement arrives. It sucks because the car is parked until I get the spacer. I was just going to buy one used here if someone had one instead of waiting.

spacer

Not sure...he says he didn't notice it...it does look like a nice unit except for design (it looks like it should not have an egr attached).

Anyway the replacement shipped is on his coin. The FMS TB I got with it looks good and works fine and has a new TPS and IAC so I'm happy with that.
