How Big Can You Go

Just need some advice. How lumpy of a cam can I get away with on a MAP sensor 302. Or am I just wasting time and bite the bullet and convert to MAF system

So the car is a '88 Speed density engine? I would just go ahead and convert it to MAF. More options out there for a MAF engine. Good luck.

how big do you need it?
how much lift?
more important what duration?

if you keep the duration small and add lift you would be suprised what you can get away with!
you need to keep the vacume signal to the MAP sensor close to stock

most of the aftermarket EFI systems are S\D and they work just fine what would your goal be?

What cam do you want to put in there?

What other mods do you have already, or are planning to do? Are you at the point where a cam swap is going to be worth the time and money? Many people have gone pretty quick with a stock 5.0 roller cam.

Or are you just looking for the sound of a bigger cam? It's usually big duration that gives the lumpy idle sound, and that's the type of cam that the speed-density system doesn't like.

cheers
