Question Looking to swap my 3.6 V6 to a 5.0 V8

Hello everyone, recently I purchased a 1995 Mustang, it's got the custom spoiler, hood, and interior so I'm still checking to see if there was any major modifications mechanical wise. Anyways it's a 3.6L V8 engine, I was wondering the possibility of having a 5.0 V8 put on, as I'm trying to get it faster for the quarter mile runs. Have any of you done engine swaps, preferably where you're putting in a larger engine? Will I have to swap out anything else major for this to work? And what's the cost around... would it be cheaper to do myself or have a mechanic instal for me, and if it's worth it to buy a new or used engine. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks.

(Side-notes, it's an Automatic.)

Welcome. Always cheaper to do it yourself, unless you break something. Generally, used is cheaper than new, but there's a bigger chance something might break. Might have cost less time and money if you just bought a GT, taking into account the cost of parts, time and swapping stuff out. Either way, got a nice ride, have fun and enjoy.

It would be cheaper in the end to go out and buy a GT. If you swap the engine you will also have to swap the rear end from a 7.5 to an 8.8. I'm not sure if the stock transmission will work or not, so that would be something to look into. If you really want to keep your car, I'd swap a 351 vs a 302.
