Oh No !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I let my car go tonight around 800 km's on rebuild and after I let off it started knocking For about 30 sec's then Went away :cry2: :cry2:
Dam I knew something would go wrong I knew it !! Oh ya the C/F dual friction wont hold. Starts to slip a 4500 rpm :banghead: I give up, I quit !!

5PointOHNO 03-17-2005 03:26 AM

Thats terrible man...

Knocking or pinging? you gotta let us know, pinging is fairly minor, however, a knock sounds more related to either oil starvation or rod knock (unlikely in a rebuild)

it is cold, so if you're running too thick of an oil might have a problem there. and to make a CF DF slip takes power, how much are you running... but those need a good looong work in, if you get on them too early they will be a paperweight.

Let us know, and im really sorry to hear that man.

91mgt 03-17-2005 06:21 AM

why would your CFDF be slipping? I just bought a CFDF and it better not slip. Heck, i am running on a stock clutch now. I wouldn't want to take out a stock clutch, put in an aftermarket and have it slip. i would be pretty pissed.

Awwwww man that freakin sucks dude! I hope its nothing major. Just check all the vitals and do a compression test before you go any further. Keep us updated.

Clutch was fine for 3 night's I took it easy. It was in the car before for about 500 km's, Flywheel resurfaced with this rebuilt-eng. So car was up to temp Stopped floored It "HOLELY SH#T The car is Crazy" I am nut's, But this thing was all over, 2nd gear ET street's No traction. I know it's cold out But man this thing is Crazy. Glad I bought that 7 inch crank pulley. But anyway I let off came to a stop and Knocking and ticking like crazy. For about 30 sec's Tops. Then Knocking went away but the Ticky tick stayed ?? So I thought OH well Nothing new just my 3rd eng No biggy. So I let it rip some more ! CAR pulls and PULLS Dam I bet It Run's Mid to Low 11's So anyway Clutch starts slipping in 2nd at about 4500-5000 rpm's Wont stop so I say screw it I'll bring it home. So that's That I guess Time to take the bus LOL :cry2:

Purepower 03-17-2005 04:59 PM

What kind of roller rockers are you running? Which cam, and which valve springs? Did you install stock or hardened pushrods? My bet is the tick is due to a valvetrain problem, either a dead lifter, bent pushrod, or improperly setup rockers. As for the break in oil, you should have run the new engine with the break in oil, drained it after 20 minutes of running (while still warm) then change the oil and filter. I changed my oil 3 times in the first week, twice the first day and a third the end of the week. Change the oil, it should help with the initial startup tick..... trust me you need to do this before driving the car anymore as it will prevent any further damage. Good luck! As for clutches, maybe the disc is fried. I'm running a King Cobra disc with a weighted CF pressure plate and it feels and grabs great.

Purepower 03-18-2005 11:14 PM

Scones 03-19-2005 08:22 AM

OK, this is gonna sound a little weird, but it'll explain your knocking at start-up....

What oil filter were you using before you changed the oil? Some oil filters are notorious for having a certain defect.....they don't hold their oil when the car is turned off, it all drains back down into the pan, and then whenyou go to start it it's a very dry start....knock knock :bleh:

Purepower 03-19-2005 12:59 PM

AC Delco

Scones 03-20-2005 10:59 AM

go to a ford dealership and by an actual ford filter. i've had problems with nearly every other filter out there at one point in time or another, besides the ford one...

Purepower 03-20-2005 12:11 PM

GOOD IDEA Going to do so !

Scones 03-20-2005 01:38 PM

and you'll be surprised at how CHEAP these GOOD and RELIABLE filters are :tup
