oil change

Since I'm going to oil changes according to the ford manual I've a got a little ways to go before I get the first service done but I have also read people are getting changes in the 500km to 2000km range,I'm not concerned or anything but what has every one out there think, get the first service early or do it according to the manual

Depends how often you drive it. I change mine every 6 months and would suggest 6 months or 8,000 km, whichever comes first.

I changed mine after the first 1000 km in 2005 and every 3000 km thereafter. I only use Castrol synthetic oil and Ford filters.

I do 6 months, or 8000, whichever is first. And lately 6 months is first usually.

On the V6 i did the 8000 or 6 months. On the GT I am going to do it at 2000km then every 8000/6 months there after unless i been driving pretty hard then i will change sooner

8000 k's eh!!Nuts! LOL!
My '03 is done at 3000 k's when i do have time to drive the damn thing threw the summer, but as for the past few years it's been around the 2000 k mark cause that is how much i have been been putting on it the whole summer, and i like to put fresh oil in the pan for the winter sleep.

It's crazy how much longer we can go now between oil changes.
In my opinion it depends on driving style, and if it's city, or highway, ects....

The consensus seems to be min of 6 months regardless of mileage, since it looks like I'm going to park the car for the winter except for weekends I'll probably get the car serviced in late october and again in the spring when it gets warmer.Did anybody else when there car was new change the oil with really low mileage under say 3000km if so why?I understand shavings and etc. but with new engine building techniques and tighter tolerances plus more quality control I'm kind of wondering if that's not really a little bit overkill

I used to change every 3 months and now every 6 but its rare I will put more than 2-3,000 km in that time frame.

Yeah I've got just over 2000km on it now and I'm off to Kamloops this weekend for a beer(ok ok it's the journey not the destination) so I will probably add another 1000km there and back so I'm pretty sure when I get back it will go into my local dealer for a oil change and its first service just for piece of mind can't go wrong that's for sure

I read but don't know if true or not that the factory oil has some special additives and one should not change it early.
