Oil Pressure Problems

When I start the car the pressure is at 60 psi, as the oil thins out it drops to 20 psi while I am driving. At idle the pressure will drop to zero and come back up when I rev the engine. I replaced the oil pump, pick up and pan and it still does it. There were no metal shavings in the oil.

Any ideas what this could be? I'm thinking spun bearings so I need a re-build, just wondering if it could be anything else.

Its probly just your oil pressure sender, replace that and you should be back on track. Those senders don't last forever

I put a mechanical gauge on it and I still get 0 pressure at idle, I also tried an electric gauge, same result. It is very usual

The mechanic that put the new pump and pan in checked the pressure with an electronic gauge as well as a mechanical gauge that he had and it did the same thing.

Since you've already had a mechanic work on your car. What does he think it maybe?

He is not sure, it is not the pump and there were no metal shavings in the oil. He thinks it is something internal. He did not want to pull the main cap to see if the bearings were worn, he thought it would not go back together properly and may cause problems. I was told it will be impossible to find the problem and should just rebuild the engine
