wtf are you talking about? my stock NEW replacement clutch cost under $200 in parts, including having the flywheel cut....

you are looking at at least $500 for a USED tranny

Well, the clutch and tranny were BRAND NEW, when I bought the car, so I'm not comparing to a "used to hell" King Cobra or anything, but it was starting to act a bit crappy (due to a worn throw-out bearing, not to mention making some really sassy noises) so I E-bay'd me a Dual Friction setup for 150 bucks, and put that in. To compare the two, yes, they are similar in the fact that they are both substantially less pedal effort than stock, but the DF has even less pedal effort than the KC, its also "grabbier" if you like that feeling. The DF disk is basically identical to the KC disk on the one side, but the other side is very different with its "pucked" configuration.

Cost-wise, it cost me about 60 for the flywheel resurface (found out that it was a new flywheel when I bought the car new, why they didn't do the rear-main then is beyond me), ~30 for a pilot bearing and ~55 for the throwout (these are from DaSilva, just Ford parts), ~25 for a rear-main, $225CDN (was 150 American) for the CenterForce Dual Friction delivered to my door and then it took way too damn long to do it. Also did Aluminum driveshaft and a new yoke at the time too, but I won't include them in the costs.

So, total cost was $395.00 so yes, it was less than a new tranny, but it was also an e-bay deal, so if it was a new DF setup, it would have cost more than a tranny for sure :)

here's what i found on a basic read up on the DF

The Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch generates up to a 90% increase in holding capacity over stock systems. The clutch/disc set is designed for use with engines producing high horsepower/torque output.

I have used the DF before on other mustangs i have owned.. and liked it very much.. those stangs mind you had more toys under the hood then my current stang where it's mostly stock under the hood. So was trying to figure out if it was worth spending the extra cash on it.

also keeping in mind that the DF grab's a little differently on day to day driving.. get that more 'grab' feeling.. so thus why I was thinking of leaning away from it.

seeing that it's still a favourite to others, I'll stick with the one i used mostly...

So I ordered one yesterday..

However they say it's on back order, anyone know how long that will take to fill?

Also.. Anyone know where i can get my flywheel turned? (locally for me)

Centerforce DF

Centerforce DF.. grabs great,, works well :tup

All depends on what kind of power u are making.

For a mild to moderate motor there is no percentage in spending more than you have to. Go with either a stock or Ford Racing clutch, both your left foot and your wallet will thankyou.

i was going to stick with the stock, but I got a good deal on a New Centerforce DF .. wasn't much more then a stock..

So.. that's what i'm going with..

I'll let ya's know if i like it or not..

I think mostly, I'll be happy that my car is no longer auto.. SO i won't have much to compare to with the DF over a stock.. since my car was auto and will now be manual.. :shakeit:

I think it was....

I thought it was a good one in my 87 Dech Stang.. which had quite a few more toys under the hood then my current stang ..

I agree with the guy with the 86 make ur clutch the weak point ppl say that mustang trannys are but they arnt its either the driver missing gears or a heavy duty clutch thats to powerfull The king cobra is a amazing lutch and if u cant afford it go right back to a stock clutch if u have 250 to 350 horses it will do u fine
