haha yes, very good point and this was my next concern, b/c i know the stock block will not hold up

How much do the girdles help with strength? I've seen one where you drill holes for braces in the lifter valley and bolt them in and the ones where the oil pan area is.

Level being 500+?

I dont believe the hype, I go with experience over hearsay Truth is increased cylinder pressure is a way more important factor in cylinder loading. Oil control issues are not a problem for those who know how to assemble a shortblock. Level being 500+? 82306 |
well called the shop my buddy got his motor done at and got a quote of 3200 to do a 347 stroker in my car, this included everythign to rebuild the motor and the kit plus machining etc, will take 2 weeks to complete and they wont charge me anymore to remove the motor from the car for the rebuild ( didnt know they would)........does this sound like a fair price?

Thats A Good Price But Likely That Kit Comes With A Cast Crank ,hyper Piston & Cheap Rods. But It Just Depends What You Plan To Do With The Car.

It doesn't happen very often but I agree with SS all the way on a 331 over the 347. There was a comparison between the two in a MM&FF mag a few months back. The guy being interviewed was an engine building guru and he claims that on any street driven stang the 331 is the way....you get a few extra ponies outta the 347 but not many, and you've got a much weaker and heavier rotating assembly. If I were to do a stroker it'd be a 331 for sure....

Last time I checked Big Daddy ran high 7’s with an Eagle rotating. Maybe he didn’t make enough power?
