Just got my short block done at Beatty and Woods, and shes running real nice !!

Had the cylinders honed, block tanked, new bearings, ARP main & rod bolts, Moly rings, and had the pistons fly cut.......all for under $1400 taxes in. Mind you I reused the stock pistons (didn't overbore it).

SS...............as you well know any shop that does engines, especially modded ones are gonna have an issue from time to time. In my eyes a shops true worth (or any person for that matter) is what they do in that odd instance where one does turn bad. Beatty and Woods have been around for ever and have an impecable reputation of before and after sales service.
I am however in no way putting down your shop of choice...........we all have out favorites.

I am all for each one of us supporting our own shop, but again unless you know all the details.................
BtW i agree for the street a 331 is much better than a 347.
Now, I'm not knocking B+W. They've been around for a long time and I've always given them commendations because they've had a great rep. But I'm not talking about just one guy on this board.... I do happen to know some people outside of the net Some guy in a black coupe approached me the other day and offered me a whole slew of Stang parts cuz he's getting out of the hobby due to a problem he had with his B+W built motor. I'm not knocking them, hell, even PSP has had the odd problem. I was just saying that they've had some issues as of late, might want to hold off until they get things sorted out. But I stand behind PSP not only because they're my fav shop (even though I always build my own motors and do my own work), but because I respect and admire Paul.
As for the motors, I just prefer a smaller small block not only for the practicality but once you start adding cubes to an already modded H/C/I 302/306 your parts will run out of breath.

Personally, I like a nice long rod 306 over a stroker. If I were to go stroker I'd go with something small like a 317 or so. Give me a detailed description of the rest of the parts on your motor and maybe you can have a reliable and budget conscious 306 that still hauls ***.

If your on a budget your heads will do just fine as will the rest of your stuff. Get yourself a fresh short with forged pistons and re-use your existing cam etc and have the heads freshened up. You've got the makings for a 325-350 H/P motor plus NOS. Nice reliable street blaster combo.
If money allows a set of small valve Edelbrock Performers would really bring it to life.

Even the fact that I had a small set back with Beatty and Woods ( Which in turn was worked out by Jeff,Chuck and Mike) I still would not hesitate to use them again!! I know their track record and reputation.......... But as is always the case and point..........Use whomever you wish or feel comfortable with!!!!

347 is always the way to go !!!!!

just do some research
there are only a few engine shops that
specialize in strokers. most have many components in stock.
some builders are just known for their strokers
347 build big powerbands , lots of torque.
you can't go wrong with a good 347.
street combo will dyno 360 to 400 hp at
the rear wheels.

check some of the cmoc advertizers

good luck

greg.

My brother's friend has a 347 stroker that dynos at 550hp to the wheels. The car is just insane and when he stepps on it (full exhaust) it sounds like the world is going to end. So they definately make good power.
