Speedometer problem

Now that my mustang is running I have very few problems with it...unfortunatly it's terrible on gas...but thats my fault for how I drive it. Anyways the problem I am looking for help with concerns my speedometer. I believe that the cable is loose the needle stays at zero when I accelerate all the way untill the 5th gear when I'm in fifth the speedometer only works when I'm pressing down the gas pedal and this is why I think its loose; however I have no idea how to adjust or tighten this cable.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I unfortuanitly can't afford to drive all the way to oshawa to get this problem fixed unfortunatly I might have to since now most of the gauge cluster doesn't work at all. I'm not sure what nicks rates are tho they look like they'd be expensive tho...just by looking at the work he does

You can't adjust or tighten the cable, usually they don't work or they work, you have a weird problem there, sounds to me like a speedo problem, can you borrow a guage cluster from someone? When it works, is it somewhat accurate?

Nick is in Oakville not Oshawa. A big difference. I would check the speedo gear. :5:

I checked to make sure it is pushed all the way in...it is, it clips into place, it is a pain to get it in and out of there tho. Is it possible it could be on the tranny end of the cable ? a gear there maybe?
