I have a 83 gt mustang, 5 speed, basically completely stock. But i am looking for some cheap performance tips or parts you have for me. So far i bought a carb spacer, and a k&n filter, only had the car for a week so havent had alot of time to do anything but wanna spice it up. Looking at some headers and x-pipe for it, other than that, hook me up with some ideas! Thanks guys.

Some good mods to start you off are exhaust, air intake, chip and tune, rear end

x2 on the rear end. You'll notice a big difference.

A better flowing dual plane intake with a 600 holley will improve the engine nicely.Headers, with a catted aftermarket h or x pipe, with a cat back.If your '83 isn't a tru dual yet since Ford still used the Y pipe right up to '85 year model on the 5.0 mustangs, you'll need the double hump cross member from a the '86 to '93 5.0L mustang to make room for the h/x pipe, and you will need to get the hangers for the passenger side cat back to hold it in place.
3.73 will wake up the 5.)l,but my suggestion would be to save up,and look for an 8.8 diff as Ford used the 7.5 diff right up to the '85 model year. The 7.5 is weak,i know,i blew the one in my 'old '85 GT i use to have, shifting into second gear on street tires at the drags LOL!
But once you really get into the modding thing, you will also want to upgrade the T-5.Ford used the non world class spec up to the '84 model year, another weak link, then starting in '85,they were putting the world class spec'd T-5's which did change threwought the years in gear ratios, and torque specs. But i would get one from the aftermarket anyways for the long term usage.
Theres more, but i wouldn't want you to break the bank just yet LOL.
