What mod's are needed to Beat ...

what mod's are needed to hand a NOS breathing 4.6 4V (01 cobra convertible)

he's packing around 125 shot. nearing 450 horse, and 500 ibs, but weighs around 3800 IBS.

What I have... (what do you think I will need)

331 Stroker
625 Demon carb.
Polished Aluminum heads
3.50 Posi
5 speed
Full exhaust
BUT advantage is the Car weighs around 3000 ibs.

What is the best to BEAT the cobra?

#1 Traction and traction aids.
#2 Will the BOTTLE help? (I am scared of it)
#3 a real driver?

or is my car doomed not to compete.? I think I'll need 11s.

Thanks in advance.

Bubba_Lane 06-02-2005 05:44 PM

steal his car.... thats all i got, maybe a real driver..all of your ideas :tup

PO10PONY 06-02-2005 05:44 PM

The only thing you need is My car!!!

Old School 06-02-2005 05:48 PM

HAHA.. you guyz are too much :laughhard

But yes, tony I do believe you know which bling machine I want to take DOWN, and yes your monster would do the trick. :)

Old School 06-02-2005 05:53 PM

I have talked about nitrous before, but I'm just too scared of the stuff... my under hood temps are high as hell.. and fuel purcholating is an issue, I have bitten the bullet though, and decided to run a return line on my fuel system. Hope that helps.

Scones 06-02-2005 06:07 PM

get yourself a nice zex kit....run a colder plug, good fuel, and stock timing and you'll be just fine

Blue Bullitt 06-02-2005 06:14 PM

Was talking to kid with a Civic today, he figures fart can, a tall wing and some stickers ought to do the trick. Oh and a set of neon lights underneath, apparently they only make you faster at night. :banghead:

Stang Seller 06-03-2005 12:36 PM

I say get some 26x8.5" ET Streets, some slapper bars, and me driving . That ought to do the trick! :laughhard

LOL.. after trying to find my balls......... to buy the NAWZZZ. I will GaSSS the pig 150 shot, while working on the traction issues (rubber etc)
I seriouly think I can do this :) Just need to buy some safe guards. Fuel Pressure switch, RPM window switch, WOT swtich, then I think my balls may come back.

Oh yah... have a second pumpkin for drag days will have 4.11s and a locker Will that work ? LOL

Darkhorse 06-03-2005 05:06 PM

How about buy a cobra? No? O.K......you don't have to....mmmm salty....

5PointOHNO 06-03-2005 05:16 PM

wont be hard to beat a cobra. You NEED Et Streets though. Hopefully you have suspension.

put a 150 shot on your car, and lay the hurtings on him.

OVERKILL 06-05-2005 01:32 PM

Spray or an S-Trim are your best bet.

HyperGT 06-06-2005 11:50 AM

I agree, spray or blower with traction you will beat him. The verts are pigs with the weight, gears help them but you have more torque with the cubes. Go blower, always have the power on tap. Just make sure you dont get blinded by the bling.
And without tractions that snake will never see 11's. You need mid-low 12s to compete I would think.

Old School 06-06-2005 12:31 PM

Problem is my NEW combo with forged pistons is nearing 10.2:1 compression... I think it would be inefficent for a blower......... THOUGH I'D LOVE ONE HAHA

I think my PONY will POUNCE on the snake if I had a blower, with traction of course

TC89LX 06-06-2005 01:57 PM

Spray it! 10:1 is no problem at all, pick up a NX plate kit and have a few differnt power levels to play with. One similiar to mine will get you a small 50 hit and take it up to 300 if you are feeling brave, or a smaller plate kit that'll do 50-200 more likely. A small 100 shot and some traction should do the trick pretty damn easy.

Traction is key though.

The Plan

Thanks TC your input is always great

My Game plan

BMN's Nitro Control. this thing has many features I like, RPM window switch, and 1st gear lockout, at a fair price.

Carb Plate (undecided.) NOS or NX

Fuel pressure Safety Switch (not sure what manufacture yet)

WOT Switch

Bottle heater isn't something I think I'll need (don't make it out that much, but not sure.. I'd like opinions on this )

NXGHOST 06-06-2005 06:07 PM

I just installed my BMN Nitro Control, great unit. I had problems with the MSD unit. The 1st gear lockout works great too! If you have to choose go with NX!

TC89LX 06-06-2005 06:30 PM

Get the heater or figure out some way to get the bottle warmed up when you need it. I have yet to have a full bottle be even close to optimum pressure without heating. In my book, a must have.

As for brand, I doubt you can go wrong with either NOS or NX, I'm partial to NX, I'm having a real good time with it LOL!

I don't get not wanting to spray in first, if you've got the traction, may as well reap the big benefit of a holeshot. If traction will suck....then it makes sense.

Again..traction! Do whatever you can to get a decent tire under the car. If you can get the jump, it makes it that easier to stay ahead.

Old School 06-07-2005 09:49 AM

Yah my puny tires will cause me traction issue out of the hole as it is, so I am assuming with the juice it will be that much worse.

Plus with the 60ft times the BEATER I want to beat was getting, all I would need is the legs to keep passed it in the long haul.

EDIT: TC.. should I be looking at a Heater/cooler unit?

I would just get the NX heater. It uses a pressure transducer to detect bottle pressure. I get my bottle from 650PSI to 1000PSI in about 5 min. If the pressure gets too high either purge it or ice it.
