96-98 sure maybe 99 and came whit gt-40p head too :biggrin:

All the years that had the 5.0L engine had the GT-40/cobra style manifold.

my dad use to have a 96 explorer 5L

I heard they ahve the gt40 intakes and cobra heads or something liek that

96 and early 97's have the GT-40 heads, mid 97+ have GT-40P's, the intake is the GT-40 design, but it doesn't have the tubular upper of the FMS GT-40 but the performance is similar.

my question is why did it come on e the explorer like that and only the Cobra mustangs?

The mustangs stopped using the 5.0 after 95, so they never really had a chance.

There are differences between the two intakes..the explorer intake was not the standard gt40 people put on their mustangs
